Why did my albums disappear?

Hey guys.

Could someone with iPhone (or iPod touch) knowledge give me some help?

Since a few updates ago my Beatles albums have gone a bit strange.

I have about 9 Beatles albums and ALL were viewable when clicking "The Beatles" in the artists section of my iPhone.

HOWEVER, since that update when I click "The Beatles" it goes straight to one of their albums.

the only way to play any of the other songs or albums is to manually navigate to either the "Songs" section of the iPhone, or the "Albums" section.

I can no longer therefore just exit one Beatles album and select a track from another Beatles album.

I've restored the iPhone 4 times now and there's been no change - I haven't ever edited the Beatles section so I don't know why it's just gone strange.

Ah what a strange thing to happen. Have you restored to factory settings and not from a previous backup?
I know it's a PIA but it could be that the backup is corrupt and restoring that won't solve anything.
Other than that, the only thing I can think of is unticking all Beatles content in iTunes, syncing your iPhone so it removes them (providing you've got the option to only sync ticked items turned on), then re-add them to see if that solves your problem.

I was dreading not restoring lol.

Do I lose all my contacts and messages and emails?

I guess it's my last port of call - it's the strangest thing, one sync they were there. . .and now only one album.

My iTunes syncs automatically so I can't untick the boxes.

I'll do a reset - then "Not from a backup" and see what happens.

Thanks.

Check the other albums in itunes if they have the artist set to The Beatles.

You can untick them them, when your iPhone's plugged in, go to it in iTunes and select the box that says 'Sync only checked songs and videos'. Click apply then wait for it to sync, then untick the box and hit apply again and see if it's solved.

I've unchecked all my Beatles songs (they all used the Artist "The Beatles" btw as I'm quite pedantic when it comes to artist albums artwork etc. . .I even sort my Artists albums by release date ).

I'll get back to you after I sync

263 Beatles songs have been synced. . . .and. . . . . . .

Grrrr.

I'll do a complete restore and see what happens.

Oh Oh Oh.

All the songs were set as "Artist : The Beatles".

But iTunes randomly added a "Sort Album Artist: The Beatles" in the meta-data for just one album.

I wonder why it would do that. . .and if the artist for all the albums was set to The Beatles why the phone wasn't smart enough to realize they were all by The Beatles when their artists were all the Beatles.

God knows

I deleted the additional "Sort Album Artist" meta data in the "1" album and returned it to previous of just having the Artist as The Beatles and it's sorted

Thanks y'all.

Ah it was a simple fix then. I'd never have thought of that, though!

Glad you got it sorted.
