The Antiques Rockshow on Scuzz
devo live

If you'd told me that I could see the video for 'Turbo Lover' by Judas Priest on a music channel a few months back, I would have slowly backed away and phoned the local loony bin. But thanks to Scuzz, I can don a mullet, and pretend like the last 20 years never happened. Much like The Darkness. They don't just play stuff that was chart friendly either.

What are your favourite crap metal videos? I seem to remember a Motorhead one which involved a motorbike and a grave. And of course Judas Priest's 'Breaking the Law' is a 'classic'.

I love the Antiques Rockshow! Although I'm very upset that Alice in Chains comes under the banner (although its great to see them on music tv again) as it makes me feel old....

Metal videos? It's got to be 'Can I Play With Madness' Iron Maiden! I love that video I saw a pretty awful Ozzy video on there a few months back as well, but can't remember the name of the song for the life of me....

All Scuzz need now is an extreme metal hour and I'll be a very happy lady indeed

Why is it that Iron Maiden have released a lot of classic metal songs over the years, but their videos tend to be rubbish? Even the new ones. 'Wildest Dreams' had a computer rendered video, except it looked like something that would have been cutting edge five, ten years ago. They can't be short of cash to fund a decent video.

binty, if you like AIC, have you heard The Union Underground? Some of their stuff sounds like AIC. Musically they're good, though the lyrics are weak at times.

A very good point! My ex had the complete set of IM videos on DVD and we had a bit of a marathon, watched the lot in one sitting (except for the gawd awful Blaze Bayley era songs) and they're pretty much all shocking! Even the live performance ones are badly done IMO... 'Can I Play...' takes the biscuit though...

btw: I've never heard of The Union Underground.... will have to take a listen, as I was (and still am) a massive AIC fan...

I always thought the video for Number of the Beast was pretty funny, until they went and ruined it by replacing the balldancing werewolves with some kind of animation.

But yeah, The Antiques Rockshow is pretty good. So far ir's the only show that has shown KISS on a fairly regular basis.

And you gotta love the early Judas Priest vids (well I did until that story came out about the original drummer)

What story is that about Les Binks? or was that Dave Holland? I'm curious now

I like Antiques Rockshow too, there's a lot of great videos and it's the best thing on any music channel at the moment. Although I don't think they change the playlist regularly enough, I still see it whenever I can (this week they've given it more time during the day because it's Metallica Weekend*).
And MTV2 are going to start showing Headbangers Ball on Tuesday 2nd March, which should be good too!

Headbangers Ball? Yay! About time too.... it's been on again in the States for ages now
I hope they include the extreme half-hour (Out of the Pit, I think it was called) ...that made great listening. If they show it at a decent hour then that'll be even better!

Well, they have given it a decent hour: 10pm on Tuesdays on MTV2. So it starts tonight! Get to a TV if you can!

Back on-topic, why is Antiques Rockshow called Antique Monsters, and lasting for three hours instead of two, now? (Not that I'm complaining!) Is it a special month on Scuzz?
