I have to disagree, they make a nice couple, both look a bit young to be parents of that brood though.

You said in an earlier post that the accent didn't sit well in the Dales and I don't get that either. HAving been somebody who has essentially had to leave a job because my accent didn't fit and I got a lot of grief I understand that difference can be hard to stomach in rural places like ED but what characteristics does Ma Barton have that don't match her accent?
Cheers.”

The actress doesn't come across very well as a farmers wife, or mother and her accent just doesn't gel with the role she has been given alongside her onscreen family.
That doesn't mean she wouldn't have suited a different character better in the Dales. Ie: new man hungry barmaid or paddy's new assistant or whatever.

That's not what you said though. Why can't farmers wives be Scottish?

Oh get over it. I never said farmers wives couldn't be scottish. Just doesn't suit the role and someone else would have been more believable. They've gone for looks over ability to convince.

Sorry, I was just asking
No need to be rude, you'll notice that was actually my first comment on the matter. You telling me to get over it makes it seem like I was going on and on...

I was just trying to have a conversation, sorry

Where did that second line come from , Didn't realize that, so that makes her 17/18 not too bad then

I assumed that they were in their late 30s - I can't believe the John Barton actor is only 33!! Proves to me how much I have bought this couple and their family, he looks and acts like a proper (albeit good looking) 'dad' figure.

How did they meet at that young age, from different parts of the country.
This is growing arms and legs this little query.

Did she not mention her Mum the other week, wonder what accent she has

Adam is actually in-between the two girls - Holly is the oldest. Hannah is just about to turn 15 - as was mentioned on Monday.

From the ITV interview with Adam Thomas:
Does he get on well with the rest of his family?
He’s got an older sister and a younger sister so Adam looks after both of them. He wants to be the big brother. He’s the only lad in the family apart from his dad so he likes to care for his sisters. He also looks up to his dad and aspires to be like him.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/a1...ng-family.html

Holly is the eldest (18 I think), and Adam is meant to be 17. It's one of the things that's not quite gelling for me, as he very much comes across as the eldest to me, not Holly.

I don't dislike Ma Barton, but I'm not too sure on the whole family just yet. I think they just need a bit of time to properly bed in though (they have only been there a few weeks after all), and I think the two girls are still very much finding their feet in their roles. Give 'em time

It's been bothering me since they first showed up, how old the Bartons are all meant to be. The parents can only be very early 40s at the oldest. If Hannah is just turning 15 that puts Holly at about 18, she told Aaron she was starting college soon, so she's school leaving age. And that would put the boy in between them, although I'm betting that for 2 or 3 months a year he's the same age as his older sister.

So by my reckoning Ma and Pa were at most 22 when they had their first.

In your opinion, maybe. Don't assume that you're speaking for us all, though.
