I had assumed that the son and the eldest daughter were twins just he left school and she stayed and both were around 17/18. I'm still trying to figure out what age the parents are meant to be clearly they are playing older than real life. Cos they don't seem like they had their kids too young. Tho I suppose if they are around 34 they could have had their kids at 17/18. I like all the bartons they just need time to settle in. And the son needs to actually do something

I wasn't convinced by it. Not feisty enough.
![]() I honestly don't see your connection between Moira and Stornoway (note spelling).

LOL, I think the main problem for me is that she is sort of stereo typed in a different kind of character, so no effort of hers in emmerdale is going to convince me. She doesn't come across as natural in the role.
Overall this has managed to make Moira seem rather cold, but I loved her recent blast at Zak & Lisa. It's still early days and they might widen the character's range more in time

Not totally made up my mind about her yet but the Barton son is hopeless in the extreme.

I like Mrs B. However, I don't think she's a real farmers wife. I reckon she's an undercover reporter

Her strong reactions to Andy & John slapping Aaron have made her seem quite uptight next to the other Bartons who are easy going.
In the second scenario her husband assaults a teenager, and at the end of the day, even though what happened was well-deserved it does not change the fact that it was assault, and falsely imprisons him, both of which are against the law. She rightly pointed out that John could have handled things better. I don't see how this is "uptight" just because it goes against what some FMs want to see happen to Aaron. Quote:

I really liked her giving the Dingles a piece of her mind last night, they certainly had that one coming!
TBH I think she's OK so far. The family has only just moved to ED and they've already had their problems with the locals and, to me, her reactions are quite realistic. If I'd been tipped off about Andy's past and saw my young daughter running from his caravan I'd have jumped to the same conclusion. But at least she had the decency to admit she got it wrong. She also realised that her hubby shouldn't have locked someone up and went straight back to let Aaron out or God knows how long John would have left him there to stew (personally I'd have been tempted to leave him there indefinitely ) She's trying to be the voice of reason to a certain extent and judging by her reaction when he told her what he'd done with Aaron, it looks like she's had to deal with John and his 'principles' before. It will interesting to see how many times she find herself in the position of peacemaker or diplomat in future. Or if John's 'principled' past is referred to again, other the fact that he lectured her dad about sheep or something when he was supposed to be asking for permission to marry her and they didn't speak for a year

Stereotyped as what, exactly? That, the bit about "no effort of hers", comes across as a bit closed-minded, in my opinion.
Sorry closed minded is hailing someone because they look good. She's the only one acting with any kind of sense in this debacle, if you ask me. Exactly. So why FMs are making snap judgements about her character I don't know. I maintain and that won't change, Moira should have been played by someone else. |

Well said Layne, it's a fair point and not a snap judgement, it's just how you feel about the actor.

In my opinion yes it is when the character has been in the show for such a short period of time. What I think is obviously wrong, though.

You're not respecting my right to adore the actress in past roles and think she just isn't right for the Moira part.

Thanks, I just think she suits different roles better to this one.
