I remember getting Sheik Yabuti on vinyl in 1979, what a classic album. So funny and fabulous musicianship

And the answer is..
Because it was the first new album for 13 years.
And yes I think it is good. I think half the stuff mentioned here is utter crap, but I don't go asking all these good people 'why' they bought it all etc.

Well the last thing I bought was actually a 7" vinyl; U2 - All I Want Is You, with it's B-Side being Unchained Melody. Brilliant Got it yesterday, for 50p.

The last CD I bought was Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - The Smashing Pumpkins. Absolutely magnificent.

Some of us think its good for the artists to get some money for their work.

As for the record companies though...i'm inclined to agree with your sentiments

Ok, but little pedantic joke here:

Last cd I brought where?

get it?

It's cos you said 'last cd you brought?' which, grammatically implies that you took an album somewhere - as in, 'I brought it to work with me'.
When you have gone to a shop to buy something, you have BOUGHT it.

Please don't take offence.

And if EVERYONE stopped buying and just downloaded on the sly instead.. then what?
NO-ONE would make music anymore and there would be NO new music at all.
Making music is not free you know - even back in 1975 Queen's seminal album A Night At The Opera cost £100,000 to make - even that is nothing compared to much of today's costs.

Peaches - I Feel Cream

I haven't bought an album since. I need to get into new acts but there just isn't any that interest me. Gargh.
