Panasonic Freesat & HDR Without Bluray

Does anyone think Panasonic are likely to ever release a Freesat & HDR Without Bluray? I already have a Panasonic Bluray player & TV. I just want Freesat HD and a Hard Drive. I'm thinking of buying the Humax but I'd prefer to wait for Panasonic if I thought one might come along.

Welcome to the forum

They already have one with just HDD and DVD recorder if that's any good for you.

But personally I'd go for the humax dispite being a huge Panasonic fan the Bluray versions have some limitations and would guess that these carry over to the DVD version

I was thinking something in the same price range as the Humax. I think I'll probably get the Humax

As mentioned, there is a DVD version; they've approached their products from the disc recorder angle, which makes them rather different beasts to the Humax.

A review at http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/08...r_xs350eb_dvr/ gives more info.

Thanks for the link. This has helped me make up my mind. I'll get the Humax!

You might like to know SAGEM are launching a couple of Freesat+ HDD recorders in September. Or so it appears from the ARGOS Catalogue:
Catalogue numbers 532/2130 & 532/2147

Don't know any more than that.

ps. I've got the HUMAX FOXSAT HDR.....SUPERB

It would have to be the dearer one wouldn't it? = 532/2147 as that has 500gb drive, the 250gb would be full in no time.

I don't actually see any explicit mention of HD except in the model title, and no mention of HDMI only SCART.

The Panny seems to have a few use issues that will rule it out for me at the price. Shame as I have a Panny TV and was hoping it would be more compatible.

I would get the Hummy - I am on my second box, and have had a few issues with the new one, but it seems to have settled down now.

Best advice to anyone new to the Foxsat HDR is not to rush your remote inputs, especially soon after start up - that seems to cause lock-ups.

.... and you know you can put a 1TB drive in the Humax and it'll work.
Not so sure with the Panasonic. I couldn't upgrade my DMR-EH50

The Panasonic Blueray units are certainly not cheap. £750 plus.

OK, you have got the facility to record Blueray discs but given you can get the Humax FOXSAT-HDR for £250 from RICHER SOUNDS at the moment, it leaves you with at least £500 to get a separate Blueray recorder.

As a Meercat once said......

"Seemples!"
