Fruity alcohol and fruits in alcohol recipes/experiences?
I picked a couple pound of blackberries from the garden yesterday and there are still at least the same amount again out there waiting to ripen up.
I am going to make some jam but I want to make something different with some of them. I also have some strawberries and plums that I got today. The blackberries and the strawberries have gone in the freezer until I decide what to do with them and will probably leave the blackberries in there until the rest of the ones in the garden have ripened up. And I intend to get some cherries once I can find some at a reasonable price. I was thinking of making plum brandy/plums in alcohol and some cherry brandy. My mum also found a strawberries in Madeira recipe that she though would be nice. The main idea was to give some of these (the ones I don't eat/drink myself ) to family for Christmas presents. If I do them now, that should give anything time to ferment/infuse nicely before giving them out. I am also on the hunt for nice (but cheap) bottles/jars that I can decorate with glass paints to put my makings in - they have some cheap kilner jars in Ikea which would be ideal, but my closest store is an hours drive away and I don't drive, so getting someone to take me there might prove problematic. Was wondering if anyone that has done these, or similar in the past has any tips/recipes to share? |

Thanks for the suggestions but cocktails/punches isn't what I was after.
What I was meaning was drinks like this: http://www.recipezaar.com/My-Moms-Plum-Brandy-13377 or jars of fruit 'preserved' in alcohol, like cherries in kirsch. |
