Not liking the live audience TBH. It may just take a bit time to grow on me but it's a no-no at the moment from me

As Charlie Brooker just tweeted, "that's X Factor broken!"

I'm not sure it adds anything apart from pointless hollering.

I don't like it I dislike the backing track too. Don't fix what isn't broken springs to mind.

I am really not liking it so far. Should have left the audience for Britain's Got Talent.

This format works for britains got talent because the judges can buzz people and the crowd can kinda join in and influence that, by booing etc. X factor auditions should be all about the auditionee and I think having a crowd there just detracts from it, having them in a secluded room with just the 4 judges is much better and allows the focus to be more on the auditionee

No, I don't think it's working. They really shouldn't have changed it.

Too much like BGT! I wanted to watch the X Factor The crowd was one of the reasons I didn't like BGT. I like the acapellas & being in a small room with JUST the auditionee & the judges... this is what makes the X Factor auditions!

American Idol is my favourite now.

It looks like BGT, i was expecting Simon to Buzz when the first crappy singer came on. The stage looks like BGT, even their family are on the side of the stage....they even got the camera angle on the volume control as the songs are turned on.

Hmm, i don't know. Maybe it will take some getting used to but they are just stealing the format from BGT i think. I'll give it another 30mins and hope it has its own stuff that is unique

It's really really boring. It adds a distancing effect. All intimacy is lost. I think I shall be giving these audition stages a miss.

Yes the acapella made the auditons better and the lack of an audience made the comments sound less scripted (even though I guess we knew they were scripted).

so far i don't like it there is a coldness about it they seem too far away from the judges and you can be sure the judges will be lenient knowing there may be a reaction from the crowd i don't think louis or cheryl look comfortable with the new format.

i think the old audition process was more personal, this lacks the connection between the judges and contestant because there's a huge crowd there. Can't see american idol being thick enough to switch to this process too

Don't like it though I quite like the fact that the family can watch from backstage.

I think the backing tracks are ok and maybe could have been introduced some time ago at the auditions. Kind of creates a kareoke (spelling?) feel.

Not keen on the live audience though. I know we have many years of being used to the old environment, but I really think an important part of the auditions is the 'intimacy' and 'from small beginnings' nature of it.
(even though we are not shown the actual original auditions in front of producers)

These new audition audiences turn every stage into a public extravaganza, which is presumably what they wanted, but I don't think it adds anything.
'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

This is exactly it - it just feels so impersonal now. The chemistry between the judges just feels lost now.

Also, no more brilliant editing with the background music etc that made the audition rounds so entertaining. Who could forget the Flumps background music the first year Emma auditioned? - extremely cruel but very funny. All that is gone.
