Who the **** wants the involvement of all those baying idiots
at the beginning of the audition process?
The timing and pace is utterly ruined. The audience reaction to the judges comments is intrusive. The acoustics of the arena destroy the intimacy and secluded ambience that the carpeted hotel conference rooms used to great advantage. Where there used to be a candid and cosy atmosphere there is now a self-consciousness and contrivance.

Bloody awful

Nice summary, MrsSchoop. Whatever the show had, which wasn't much other than to humiliate people, looks much worse when its done in front of baying morons.

I'm not a big fan of it either.

It reminds me of the godawful Britain's Got Talent.

So with the backing tracks, it means EVERYTHING is 100% pre-planned so we wont be getting any spontanious moments, like in the past where a contestant would sing a different song, off the cuff, to show their true quality.

The X-Factor has died tonight

There doesn't seem to be any judge interaction

It's rubbish. The appeal of the auditions stage previously was the person walked into a small room with the judges, all nervous, and there was the interaction between the auditionee and the judges.. the judges would talk to each other etc. Now it's just cold, they walk on stage and I'm baffled as to why the crowd are even there, because most of the time you can't hear them.

Rubbish. Go back to the old format.

Agreed. IT SUCKS.

That idiot Simon or the producers trying to sync with the Britain's Got Talent audition process... But this doesn't suit the X-Factor.

Morons.

Not liking the new format here either. I used to really like the early shows in the series and was looking forward to this. I might just switch over to watch the lottery results - even though I've not bought a ticket.

The most stupid thing about it is that now when we get to the live shows, it'll feel less exciting because they'll all have performed in front of an even bigger crowd. We'll have seen it already, they'll have done it already.

I know that Cowell has made his fortune from rehashing formulas across different shows and artists (e.g. spot how many contestants in X Factor this year will repeat songs that the Idol contestants did), but this is a mistake.

"Reality" TV works at it's optimum when the contrived "reality" is retsricted to the bubble (or microclimate) within which it is expected to nurture.
Inviting the audience to stick it's ugly and noisy snout through the railing is akin to allowing a party of schoolkids within ten feet of the Panda Compound 'round about mating time.

It's the same over at Big Brother. I spend all week being drawn into the purity of the confines of the house until friday arrives with the idiotic crowd and it's semi-professional
ringmaster.

.
Excellent point. So now what makes the live shows "special" if they are going to feature a SMALLER crowd than the one they auditioned in front of.

Stupid, stupid, stupid. I feel like smacking somebody.

Really not warming to it - just seems bit murgh :S lol.

Feels too much like BGT, and the audience dont really add much to the show imo.
