Bluetooth on iPhone 3G
Will apple ever release the standard bluetooth sharing capabilities on the iPhone 3G, I have friends who want photos from my iphone but i cannot send it to them via bluetooth, all i can do is email them the photos but they do not have email capabilities on their handsets.
Is there anything I can use from the App Store that enable the full bluetooth sharing capabilities??? Many thanks |

Yea it is a big shame about the Bluetooth on iPhone, myself i think it is a big disappointment from Apple because I use Bluetooth alot. I really want a solution so i can send/receive files with my Mac and Laptop to my phone via Bluetooth.

But the annoying thing about that is majority of people dont use email on their phone and dont have it set up to use. When my friends want to send me something or want something from me and they say to Bluetooth it and i say i can't, they instantly think the iPhone is crap! Apple should really add it.

The iPhone 3GS has to be the most restricted, most uncustomisable phone ever released. You can't even change the ringtones, much less use Bluetooth.
It's disgusting that Apple won't support Jailbreaking, which is basically acquiring the bare minimum phone functions. I prefer my old k800i over the iPhone. I can use Bluetooth, change the appearence, have my own ringtones... and the battery lasts longer than 5 hours. |

I'm still amazed that people are desperate to have something, but, get all wound up just because it won't do something they need. If that is the case then it's not the phone for you. Research your phone and buy the one that suits your needs then stop bitching about the other ones.

There is an app that allows Bluetooth photo sharing.
How you can say it is not customisable with 65,000 apps is beyond me. If said friends had a decent phone just plugging it into their Mac or PC would see all the email settings and accounts sync and set themselves up. |

Still, there are always several other quality smartphones that are cheaper, available on more than one network, have more features, and don't have the manufacturer controlling what you can and can't do. |

Many thanks Bluetooth is a massive part of mobile phone use, it's extremely popular in many of today's devices, not just mobiles, so to reduce what you can do with it with your mobile device seems like a seriously backwards step and one that's obviously going to upset your users. It seems a shame that you have to hack your phone, voiding the warranty and risking bricking it just to get access to what should be an already included feature as it is with most phones these days. |

For a start, Bluetooth is a basic feature used by the majority of modern handsets. It's so simple to simply use the radio frequency to send files locally between each other, and of course it's free and doesn't depend on any network to be available. It's also very easy to use and doesn't normally require much in the way of being configured. Sending via email may suit some people, but certainly not all. In addition to the above points, not everyone has unlimited data plans so the email may cost them money which seems silly to send and receive photos via email when Bluetooth is free. Also take in to consideration size of files and speed of network and the fact that not everyone is able to set up email on their handsets where as more people are able to use Bluetooth as it's a more simple process. And not everyone has an email address for their mobile phone. I have both mobile email and Bluetooth on my handset. I use both a lot, however for local file sending I'd never bother with email as Bluetooth is much more suited to that. Having both options makes sense, for a brand to prevent one of them being used seems silly and really lets the iPhone down. |

Apple doesn't seem receptive to applications that improve or add features that Apple have already included or are thinking about including.

It seems odd that they don't listen to their customers and improve their handsets to suit more people, giving them the decent features that you'd expect as standard on a mobile device.
Indeed there are. Smartphones produced by other manufacturers are really starting to rock Apple's iBoat and Apple really need to start considering bringing their device up to date if they don't want to start looking like that kid that always turned up to school wearing last year's handmedowns ![]() Nearly every thread on the iPhone I see you write negative things and try praising the N97 (of course because you own yourself) ie, iPhone doesn't do this, but phones such as the N97 does etc. We get the point - you dislike the iPhone and/or Apple We should all follow your wisdom in mobile technology and buy what you own! No doubt you'll come back at me now with more negative comments about how the iPhone or Apple 'lack'. No need as I won't reply as I've already wasted 3 minutes on you, to which I have told myself many times before "just leave it, don't snoop down to their childish levels". I just know I'm more than happy with my current phone - nice to have a working phone than a 'buggy' one ![]() Good night |
