I've seen comments here and over on the BT forums that sometimes programmes once broadcast are not appearing on Replay even 24 hours later.

I might be missing something here, but I'm sure I've read that they only provide a selection of the last 7 days viewing. To quote from one of their web pages:
Catch up on a hand-picked selection of TV shows broadcast over the last week
If that is the case then they're not always going to show the programme you want to catch up on.

Can someone confirm whether this is meant to be the case or they are supposed to deliver a full replay service.

it's meant to be the case.

BBC replay is seperate from iplayer, its an early iplayer system that was aimed at cataloguing the most important shows. only virgin media had it to begin with then BT took it on as the only replay service it had; shortly after channel 4 OD arrived. then ITV and channel 5 have only arrived as of late last year.

so yes it is the case for now, I suspect tho, that eventually it won't access from BT's servers, instead we'll get an iplayer interface that access the content from the BBC.

on BT's forums they have hinted at BBC HD replay so maybe there are changes up ahead?

Thought I would dig this one up and ask if anyone has heard anything. It's very frustrating that:

a) Replay has only a subset of what is on iPlayer

b) When I try to watch iPlayer on the PC, Wii or iPhone, the traffic is so shaped that it's absolutely unwatchable at peak time. At the very least they should prioritise the packets for BT Vision subscribers.

Bt Vision is a complete waste of money. It can take anything up to 48 hours for TV Replay content to be added after broadcast and quite often content is missing.

The BBC Content on TV Replay is a complete joke, only half of what is on the Iplayer is available to BT Vision subscribers.

I have now finished my 12 month contract on the bronze pack and as of Monday 8th March 2010, my package reverts to flexible bt vision with TV replay at £2.99 per month - that is a massive saving of £11 per month.

Good riddance BT Vision!!

There is more to BTV than BBC replay!
Also you say good riddance, yet you still subscribe!

it is odd, that there has been no improvement on the iplayer front.

and why do they keep filling the HD TV section with documentaries!? there's new stuff there but still documentaries from BBC.

It would be nice to have a mixed bag. I can pick out a fair bit of HD content to stick in there.

-Dr Who xmas special HD
-Match of the day coca cola championship X vs Y HD (ideal as these arn't every week)
-Larkrise (as a replay option so the 1 episode each week)
-Tudors again have full episodes as SD streaming but 1 episode per week in HD even.
-top gear
-Doc martin (last series was in HD on ITV if i remember)
-collision was in HD on Itv Also

theres 7 I've done, no doubt half the other content in TV was shot in HD.

not asking alot but docu's do get boring...

but we really do need the full and proper iplayer now, everybody else has it....

-Wii
-ps3
-Fetch
-Tangy TV
-Freesat
-Virgin Media
-PC
-Sky (soon when they fire up VOD (anytime+) no doubt - they'll implement it i'm certain of it. why wouldn't they?)
-iphone (isn't it ton there as well? I was sure i'd seen it on there...)

so why couldn't BT make that interface for its Vision box and route iplayer data through its QOS?

of course the other issue could be rights..... I mean Tudors was screened on BBC1/2, but on Vision it comes under sony entertainment.....

This was cleared up over the weekend before the mods obviously stepped in to clean the thread up once jam2000 started throwing insults around.

He claims he now subscribes to Virgin HD instead of Sky HD (well, he's changed the 'services' profile under his username and details, at least).

What with Freeview, ESPN, FreeSatHD, BTVision and now VirginHD, i'm surprised he has time to post on here.

You'd think he'd be glued to the TV 24/7 with such a viewing choice!!

Sky's ok - I watch what I like to watch, and it still leaves me time to do other things.

Oh right - where do you watch all that lovely on demand then, if you don't sit in front of a TV?

Obviously too much time in here slagging off other service providers!

Why so aggressive in your replies?

Call it 'slagging off' if you want, as I've said before, I come on here as a former subscriber of BTV, and offer advice and opinion when I feel it appropriate.

By the way... back to my previous question - on what device do you watch the on demand content then?

Former BTV, the service has changed since you had it. In the past few weeks that I have had much has changed with new channel providers coming along.

More free HD channels on VM! FilmFour and E4, good to see Sky are still ripping people off with their £10 a month charge!

Your probably correct, that improvements will have been made to the system/content since I had it.

However I still believe my current Sky subs to be better value for money for me, than what I was paying to BT at the time. If/when that changes, I will re-evaluate and potentially move service again.

That's your opinion of course, many people clearly feel the additional £10 for almost 40 HD channels to be decent value for money, though.

ahh but theres a catch.

it's only good value if you have every pack including sports and movies....

see If I took out say variety pack + sports + news say. and i wanted HD then £10 would cover only about 10 channels at best.

I think that's the sticking point for many with regards to HD.

if they had a system where you did not subscribe to any sky premium packs (sport or movies) and had 3 or less mixes then you could get hd for £5. then those who have sky on a basic level would then more likely purchase HD methinks.

Yep, agreed - Premium HD channels aren't included in the £10, if you don't sub to the SD version of them.

In that case, you get 15 additional HD channels for the £10 (on top of the free ones, BBCHD, CH4HD, LuxeHD and ITVHD can be tuned (for what its worth)).

However, on the flip side, you do get all of the non-premium HD channels for £10 regardless of which entertainment mix(es) you subscribe to.

So for example, if you only subscribed to the news mix, you would still get Sky1HD, FXHD, Discovery HD, MTVNHD, etc.

Ha Ha... I was kinda wondering where the 'Wolves' comments came from, and who it was aimed at.... still am actually, because it isn't me either.

Did you know he also watches on demand, but doesn't need to sit in front of the TV?....... maybe he stands up.... or lies down.
