Stacey Solomon has revealed that she wants to win The X Factor for her 17-month-old son.

The 19-year-old Essex girl wowed the judges with her performance of Louis Armstrong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’, and took Simon Cowell "by surprise".

She said to the Sunday Mirror : "It would mean everything. I'd be able to get Zachary into a good school and get him all the things he needed. Single motherhood is tough, but I'm determined to be the one that provides for my son."

Solomon is now juggling being a mother with working at a pub and being a musical theatre studies student.

And im guessing she wont be the only one, there will be more to come, so post all sob stories here and we'll see which is the best one..

Winning a contrived reality TV show would not make her a better mother. I hate it when contestants spout this sort of rubbish, but no doubt they were told what to say by the producers.

I am against sob stories and don't think she should have said this (if she actually did), but I do think she'll get very far in this contest though. I can see her being in the final week.

It's hardly a 'sob' story is it?

It's not like Daniel from last year singing to his dead wife, or that Niki from the year going on repeatedly about her father.

She just said that she wants the best for her son, which is what every parent wants, surely - what's so wrong about that

If it was going to be a sob story, they would have overplayed it last night rather than showing her saying "I love being a single mum".

You know last night I was actually shocked.... not one single sob story!!! No dead relatives... no one who hated life. Turns out the press couldn't possibly have that!!! Come on Simon and co.... figure out people are sick to death of sob stories.

I don't see that as a sob story either, that's just her life, it's her aspirations. As a single mother she'd like to be able to provide a better life for him. I'm quite sure there's a whole other section of society that would like to tear her to shreds if she dares to be on benefits while auditioning.

I strongly suspect the X Factor producers will use it to the maximum effect as a sob story later on though.

I dont mind this one.. wanting to improve your child's life isnt a sob story, its just natural. Saying your doing it for your dead mother/brother/pet llama is when it gets ridicolous.

I noticed that too and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they have finally twigged we are sick of them, but I reckon they'll ramp them up towards the end.

'all the things he needed' so that will be a PS3, a PSP, and 360, maybe a BLU-RAY player, LCD HD TV, all the things that kids these days 'need' !

Bang on cue, you can almost feel the patter of the audiences tears fresh of the production line!

Daniel's dad:

"Most people just turned up and sang but Danyl really worked the stage like a professional.
Please don't put down the other contestants. At the end of the day, it's still a singing competition and I wouldn't say the dodgy dancing and smary looks were 'professional'. Someone buy this man a ticket for a 'Take That' concert to see how it's done.

Thought the same here, she seem to be very happy as a single mum

rather than showing her saying "I love being a single mum".

Sob stories are the best bit as they try to out sob one another. Its whos going to promise to drop dead live on stage if they dont win im waiting for.

id love to go on just to do a sob story , to see Cherlys face as i tell her that im singing Jonny Cash's 'Ring Of Fire' because my dad has piles'

Is it compulsory that you have to have at least 3 relatives who havent worked since Adam , have at least 2 who are single mums & 2 that have medical conditions that medical science hasnt even discovered existed yet?

Different year , same old sob stories.

She said that before she sang, as far as I can see she wants the best for her son, what the hell is wrong with that At least she's trying her best and making something of her life.

What he said is a bit below the belt (if he did say it). No need to put others down

Agree with both of these.

Besides, from actually reading what she said, it sounds like she was asked what it would mean to her and her family etc.

What really do people expect her to of said?

"I ain't sharing any of it with them"?
