Just reading a post about the audition process this year and I thought I'd ask for people's opinion on this.

I read Ben Elton's Chart Throb last month and although I have always been cynical about X Factor (we all know the judges can't possibly see all applicants) this book did get me thinking about just HOW manipulated X Factor is.

So, for those that have read the book, how close to the mark do you think it is? Are there Clingers, Mingers, and Blingers? Are auditionees invited back in subsequent years (Alexandra perhaps)? Do the judges already know who will be put through before they even see them? Have the judges already decided on the winner before they see them? Do they manipulate the live shows deciding who will go each week (okay so we can be pretty certain that there is an element of that going on)?

Thoughts anyone?

I have read the book but I don't think XF is that manipulated.

However, at the BGT auditions in January, we were on the first balcony 3/4 rows back and we could see a producer or someone telling the judges to say yes or no as to leave the last judge with a difficult decision or to build the tension.
