Acts with social/political messages
Am I alone in cringing at these? I'm referring to the act on last night wanting to show all teenagers aren't bad. There have been a few in the past too, e.g. those preaching about knife crime at the BGT semi finals. Now the messages are good, but very inappropriate and cringeworthy for an entertainment/talent show.

No, you're not the only one. It *always* comes across as fake and a way of manipulating the judges/public into disregarding your lack of talent and putting you through because 'you're a great example for young people out there!'. It's preachy and pretentious.

Its ironic - throwing a microphone isn't really going to disspell the stereotype is it?

I agree
It is invariably cheap, embarrassing and designed to please the Daily Mail reading audience. |
