Yes! the fact they never did really surprised me. I was also very much expecting the show to be on TV but that didn't happen

Oh yes she is. You can see how she was trying already to make a brand of her name when she was launching her solo career with the "VB" logo and the panthera in between.

Yes - at the time didn't think much of it. Thought it was quite pretentious but actually that was very clever!

it was very clever. apparently when her music wasn't doing to good. she was selling tons of books? so she must have seen future in the `brand`. of course she eventually give up the music completely. not surprisingly it was damaging the `brand` in more ways than one.

we all know what was alleged while david was in spain and she was based here flogging her dead music horse!

I love the Spice Girls and always will do. I remember there first album was the first cd I ever got when I was young and was the best thing ever! haha!

I saw them on their reunion tour and it was great, I'd love them to get back together again.

Melanie C was my favourite and I still follow her solo career and her next album is out beginning of September, so really looking forward to that!

Would love another Spice Girls album one day though, but each year one of them seems to be pregnant or got something going on! One day, maybe one day we can hope!

Spice, for me when listening to it now sounds quite edgy for a female pop group. There's obvious pop songs like 'Wannabe', 'Mama' and 'Who Do You Think You Are' there but others like 'Naked', 'If U Can't Dance' and 'Last Time Lover' which were quite mature sounding, not only in lyrical content but production too. Not the usual fluffy pop that every 6 year old listened to at the time. They were sort of a template for what the Sugababes would do later on. Has the album dated? Probably. But then I think the whole attitude of the group back then during a 'Ladette' culture is dated now too.

'Spiceworld' is primarily pop at its best. But it's quite diverse for a pop record. There's an old skool feeling on 'Never Give Up On The Good Times', 'Stop' and 'The Lady Is A Vamp' and again, a little edginess with 'Denying'. But 'Spice Up Your Life' brilliantly captures just how big the group was at the time - a massive fun, colourful party. Just a shame about the video - all dark and going totally against what the song was about!

'Forever' - it's already been said here before - it wasn't a sound they could pull off credibly. Destiny's Child and TLC were doing it with ease. It was clear that Melanie C was just not feeling it when you listen to her on it. Even Mel B didn't seem that convinced. I actually think Emma and Victoria really shone on that album. Victoria sounded more confident and Emma's voice seemed to match the style. I remember reading a quote from one of the producers - Rodney Jerkins/Darkchild who said they all thought Emma was the biggest surprise for them and how great she was.

As for solo records, Melanie C's 'Northern Star' is still by far the best of them. When you list all the genres that are there - rock, soft-rock, a bit of indie, dance, even a bit of motown - it just sounds like a mess with lack of flow, but somehow it works. Emma's 'Free Me' era was her best period. But continuing the 60s revival trend on 'Life in Mono' was a mistake - considering people like Amy Winehouse were doing the old skool revival thing so much better at the same time. Amy doing 'Rehab' and then there's Emma doing a cover of 'Downtown'? No comparison is there?

Your lips were completely sealed indeed! - embarrassing it was that's for sure but again you've got to give it to her coming out of it triumphantly after being a laughing stock for weeks!

I was really surprised how Emma shone in this album. To me, she owns Holler both the song and the video! And I agree as well about Victoria she seems to be confortable with that sound too. As for the Solo albums, I'll certainly rank Geri's debut among the best ones mainly because I've always seen it as the 3rd SG album that never got to be done...Mel C's debut is excellent and her best I'd think while Emma's LIM is a real mystery to me. A total disappointment soundwise after the brilliance of Free Me but also never understood why she got that extreme of doing so unaccessible easy-listening songs!!!???

Schitzophonic and Northern Star are the best of the best! As solo debut albums both were and are stil very strong!

I agree that geri made an album that should have been what the third Spice album sounded like...not Forever. And Norther Star was so against the grain!

Mel C has delievered a great bunch of albums while the other 4 kinda slipped back in quality! And The Sea sounds like it will be immense!
