I have a feeling that they want a show that appeals to the audience who watch Spring/Autumnwatch but for some reason, I think Bill Bailey did a similar series for Channel 4 a few years ago.

Looks unlikely that Doc Martin (8 part series) will air in the Monday slot it occupied last series.
After Blue Murder, there's about 11 weeks remaining in the year. Three will be taken by I'm a Celebrity, 1 will be by Collision, maybe 1 by Christmassy stuff. And the fact that I'm a Celebrity will be in November/December, makes it impossible for an eight-part series to run without a break.
Same issue with the Tuesday slot after The Fixer ends, Wednesdays and Thursdays are filled. It leaves Friday or Sunday for Doc Martin realistically. Or maybe ITV won't air it this year? They always have drama in their season highlights which they don't show!
Some news about how Stv are doing in The Bill slot.
That must be a record low share for an itv region in primetime.

That's why I switch my telly off at 8pm on Tuesdays!
According to the press pack The one shows hour long edition has been changed from the previously announced Monday to Friday.So i presume an question of sport will probably move to 8.30
At last we start to see some relatively competetive autumn schedules start to unfold.
Mondays look tight with Waking the Dead and Blue Murder going head-to-head. The Bill gets some respite on Thursdays, at least in the short-term then - but theres plenty of BBC dramas to be placed yet. Interesting that they've suddenly held back Material Girl. Clearly not that confident in it - frankly, by how it sounds, its the sort of thing I'd like to see held back indefinately.

I agree, wasn't blue murder in the spring/ summer press pack before?I dont think Itv would waste Doc martin on fridays
How rude is Doc Martin? Would it be suitable for a pre-watershed slot? (You may gather from these questions that I've never watched it.)

With STV opting out of practically all the ITV new season dramas, what figure do you think we should add to the ITV ratings to get a better picture
With STV's replacement programmes rating much lower than the ITV1 programme, this will decease ITV's rating but it is likely that it will also increase BBC1's rating for the same time slot

STV are being quite helpful to ITV in terms of publicity. It's not often you hear people demanding to see the quality drama provided by ITV1. Meanwhile, STV have managed to tell everyone what they aren't going to show this autumn... with very little of what they will actually show. For once, ITV plc are the good guys.
STV are digging their own grave but I'm suprised Ofcom haven't intervened but I guess STV aren't doing anything illegal as in the old ITV regions you could opt out.
Reminds of a Armando Iannuci sketch called Except for viewers in Scotland which highlighted the joys of regional opt out.

So with Five today announcing pre-tax losses for the first half of the year, isn't it time to consider mergers with other broadcasters.
Clearly consolidation in the commercial sector is going to have to happen, the market is crowded and there aren't enough revenues in it.
ITV & Five should be seriously talking together to create a free to air commercial powerhouse, there would surely be a lot of benefits from combining the synergies of the two broadcasters.

That would make a lot of sense given the comments from Five's owners that they want to be number one in each market they compete in.

When I first read this, I thought it meant Moving Wallpaper had a 77% audience share in the STV region.

I was thinking of it as an ITV acquisition - a regular 2m+ guaranteed weekday audience will outrate some of the prime-time flops ITV have had of late, and the endless associated shows and live streams seem ideal for ITV2.
I only wonder if BB might just be a bit too highbrow for ITV?
Not sure if it has been mentioned, but the first X Factor live show is 10th October as usual. It means there will be, as predicted, just 5 auditions episodes rather than 6.
