BTW, I suspect that if Button does clinch the title next weekend then the re-run rating should hopefully be quite high - i.e. over 5m.

We all know how badly ITV did with The Premiership
Quote:
Thats not true really. The Premiership did ok when it moved later. it was its early scheduling at 7pm that struggled. Although the 5.5m it was getting at 7pm still exceeds the 4m it gets on BBC1 at 10.30pm
![]() The Premiership did indeed debut with 5.5m viewers (though still lost out to The Weakest Link on BBC1), but plunged to 3m after that, and after averaging only 4m in its first 3 months, ITV shunted it off to 10.30pm (the one thing they said they weren't going to do) and replaced it with Blind Date. See links: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertain...io/1511568.stm http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...emiership.html Funny how, reading those old links found on Google, even 8 years ago, 'bought-over-the-odds' football rights and 'despised-by-viewers' football presentation were causing as much a problem for ITV as they are now. What a bloody good idea - I cannot believe this has never been thought of before! Quote:
Friday 25th September 2009
BBC One 20:30 - Strictly Come Dancing: 7.59m (34%) * last week: 8.44m (35.7%) ITV1 20:30 - Coronation Street: 6.81m (30.3%) 21:00 - Rebus: 2.98m (13.4%) Quote:
amazing figures there. Especially compared to the 7.6m that SCD got on Friday when there was no clash.
Perhaps viewers are getting bored of waiting for contestants to be voted off - what is it now, 7 weeks and no evictees? SCD has only been going a week and has got rid of 2. Remind me, when does TXF actually start? Quote:
I think the Antiques Roadshow held up really against The X Factor!
Assuming BBC bosses managed to get written permission in advance from ITV, GeorgeS, The Sun and The Daily Mail.... |

I'm amazed how well Dirty Dancing does considering it's been shown on Five every year and it gets similar ratings each time, I admit that the death of Patrick Swayze came into play but it's still a good result considering the first hour was against Waking the Dead and Doc Martin. It does do a lot better against weaker competition.
Doc Martin is still doing well considering it's up against Waking the Dead, it's competition next week isn't as strong with Emma on BBC One and xXx2 on Five, it wouldn't surprise if it went up. |

I like SCD but I do feel they have shot themselves in the foot with this clash with the X Factor..I think they should go back to how it use to be..two shows one dancing etc, then a results show later on..one before The X Factor and one afterwards..it is so simple really!

What, even though its getting about a million less viewers in the September darkness than in the late August sunshine?

I don't watch the X factor till the live shows start, when they do I usually watch Strictly then switch over for X factor. I'm not impressed with the changes at Strictly this year- the scheduling, Alesha, having one long show (Saturdays show is 2 hours 15mins long- ridiculous) etc- so when X Factor live shows start I'll be watching that rather than Strictly. Strictly has lost a fan. They'll just have to live with that ![]()

The new Audience with... Donny and Marie show is supposed to be airing on Wednesday 11th November. I think it'll take the 8pm slot. Quote:

From the quarter-final, there will be a main live show where the remaining celebrities and their partners will dance for the judges scores and the audience votes. The voting lines will open once all remaining couples have danced their routines. An announcement will be made to that effect during the live programme. Later that same night, there will be a live results show, where the audience voting results and the combined scores will be announced. The bottom two scoring couples will go into a dance-off as per the rules above.

ITV1 have got themselves a strong schedule for Sundays. It must be up considerably on this time last year.
Is that the best ever XF Bootcamp rating ? BBC One is skewing really old on a Sunday with Countryfile, Antiques and that looks like it will continue with the addition of Emma in a few weeks. And no Heartbeat in sight.

"Take Me Out" is now on the ITV Media site. It's an 8 x 60 minute commission for Q1 2010.
Here's the 'blurb' : 30 single women… 30 lights… 1 man asking “Take Me Out.” If the women don’t like what they see, they just turn their light off… Take Me Out is an addictive dating format, fast paced in bite size chunks, dip in dip out-tastic. It’s as simple as Dragon’s Den and as compelling as Deal or No Deal. Hosted by the wildly funny Paddy McGuiness (Phoenix Nights, Max & Paddy) Take Me Out turns the dating game into a comedic gameshow. A panel of thirty girls all looking for the right guy to Take Out stand in an arena, they each have a light and if at any point they come across a guy who doesn’t do it for them, they can turn their light off. As the girls return each episode, we’ll get to know the real characters among them from the fussy one who always turns her light off, to the girl who always leaves it on. The man stands alone, surrounded by lights… He just says three simple things, his name, his age and where he is from. The girls must decide whether he turns them on, or turns them off. If they are not interested they must turn their light off. If our man is not standing in a pitch black studio at the end of this, it’s time to move onto the next stage where the women get to learn a little more about him. If at any point all the lights go off, it’s game over for the man! Finally the man will choose one girl to take out and we’ll get to see how they got on next time. We’ll also get a new girl to make our army up to 30 again. |

But they went downhill from November onwards, with shares of under 20%. That won't happen this time round. I've been surprised by how well Family Fortunes has done in that 7pm slot. ITV must be glad they ordered a record 17 episode run! I said it last week, that I do think ITV should consider putting more game shows in that slot. With them abandoning pre-9pm drama, why not bring back something like Play Your Cards Right or Bullseye? Could bring in steady ratings. |

No, Steve's right - it's GeorgeS who has it wrong again.

A documentary series looking at Britain's unique and varied coastline? What a bloody good idea - I cannot believe this has never been thought of before! I wonder how much of the SCD week-on-week drop is down to more people watching Corrie then switching at 8.55? Clearly Corrie did better this week than last; Rebus did not. What, even though its getting about a million less viewers in the September darkness than in the late August sunshine? Perhaps viewers are getting bored of waiting for contestants to be voted off - what is it now, 7 weeks and no evictees? SCD has only been going a week and has got rid of 2. ITV could move X Factor anywhere at the moment and dominate. I saw a bit of Countryfile last night and although it does have some viewer friendly items, it does sometimes come across as an accompanying video to an Open University course. It has and probably will get reasonable figures but its a bit of a concern that the BBC thinks that 50 weeks a year of Sunday night primetime should be given over a magazine programme like that.

I think, since the BBC haven't got a show that could beat X Factor on a Sunday they are offering a good alternative with Countryfile. I don't know if it has enough material for 50 weeks but it's got a regular solid audience and it's very safe and relaxing. This might be a stupid question, but as it doesn't have to keep advertisers happy isn't going for the older audience the safest way of the BBC keeping its ratings up, as older viewers are more likely to watch on the day rather than on iplayer, be quite loyal and, well, there are a lot of them?

Same with Brothers and Sisters which usually just trends with DH, its a big drop in the demo from last year, but as long as it stays above a 2.5!!Fox did really well!! |

Very bad for ABC! DH has lost a lot of viewers since last the start of last season!! But as long as it stays above a 3.5 it will be safe
i just never worried about its ratings b4!! Same with Brothers and Sisters which usually just trends with DH, its a big drop in the demo from last year, but as long as it stays above a 2.5!!Fox did really well!! I think DH could well be down at around 3.5 as we progress through this season. And although not usually enough to get a show cancelled, if it does drop that far, I'd expect it to be announced that the next season will be the last. The writers would rather get out on their own terms and tie up storylines than actually be cancelled and the cast will no doubt want to move on to new things when there is still some hype around the show. All in all, I think premiere week has been OK for the network apart from NBC who have had it rough, worse than expected, but Jay Leno is doing alright. FOX look stronger at this stage than they have for years. Excluding Friday, they don't appear to have any flops on the schedule. ABC's veteran shows have been showing weakness but that was expected. What was important was the Wednesday 9pm comedies and FlashForward. CBS still have a Sunday problem and Thursday was perhaps a disappointment. But they've got big numbers out of the Monday comedies, NCIS and NCIS:LA are off to great starts on Tuesdays and Criminal Minds/CSI:NY did well on Wednesday. |

The Seth McFarlane + Simpsons block did great for FOX, animation does skew younger but it's very difficult to get, ABC should be worried that DH and B&S were down, NBC did fine with football and their only success of the week.
CBS always has problems with Sundays and it doesn't help with the overruns, perhaps they should schedule comedy at 8pm so if there are overruns then they drop a show and keep the rest of the lineup intact. I think CSI and The Mentalist will flip timeslots as early as midseason, the show is declining and I think The Mentalist would prosper at 9pm. |

Not sure if it's been mentioned already but: Sky 1 has picked up new comedy series Modern Family and will screen it from Thursday October 15th.
