Pride of Britain did well last night, up 500,000 from last year's rating. Also that's Emmerdale's highest overnight rating since April.

BBC1's schedule held up quite well I think, and its their highest Wednesday primetime share in 6 weeks. Looks like Secret Millionaire got dented a lot, and Five's poor Wednesday night performances continued.

Very good night for ITV. Hell, even NaT got over 3m for the first time in a while. BBC One held up well, though.

Five really need to think about expanding this mega-hit.

Its going to be tight tonight between Criminal Justice & The Bill. I think CJ might shade it by 0.2m but Benidorm will run away with the slot on Friday night.

Live from Studio Five is reaching crisis level ratings. I thought it could survive at 400k-500k, but its latest rating puts it in lala land. They seriously need to take the axe out to the current presenters and get in some professional presenters

Casualty will probably not fare any better than the Antique Roadshow. Casualty isnt a ratings powerhouse any more. It usually benefits from ITV giving it a soft run as ITV for its relative success. Prepare to be crushed.


A Saturday "One Show"

Journalists are just getting stuck in an attitude now - are the BBC not allowed to put anything opposite the X Factor now? They are making me hate X Factor more than Louis Walsh does.

I'd just like to point out (especially to the morons in The Guardian) that Casualty and X Factor clash this Saturday and that this clash is nothing to do with the BBC. It is because X Factor has been extended to a 2 hour show.

I don't even think that would work to be honest, its a show that there is no demand for. Theres the One Show for those who want that sort of show, whilst daytime TV such as Loose Women, This Morning and Paul O Grady provides enough chatter and celebs for the others.

Anyone got ratings for "How Not To Live Your Life" on BBC Three. I've been watching it for the past couple of weeks, and last nights episode, the gayman one, was hilarious.

talk about lazy Journalism. There is no issue with the BBC putting Casualty up against the XFactor, nor is there nothing wrong with ITV choosing sunday at 8 for the XFactor.

both shows are completely different genre's and totally different target audiences.

I reckon XFactor could do its best non-final audience on sunday though. They've done a huge marketing push, and Robbie Williams has a huge fanbase, and the series is already a couple of million up on last year.

lost 500k viewers across the epsiode. Having seen the first episode on FX i'm not surprised, I found it very hard to get into, even though I love US shows. Not good signs for Channel4, I hope they haven't spent loads on the rights.

On Tuesday 15th September, it started with 380,500 viewers (2.8%) in the overnights.

That was up from the first series average of: 288,900 (1.9%)

Was Five's primetime share last night, by any chance, the lowest of the year?

I quite liked it. Pilot episodes don't usually hugely impress me (this was no different) but I like the premise. Although it wasn't really what I was expecting.

It may improve. It has become a huge hit on HBO, building its audience through the second season. Despite being in less than a third of homes, it was often one of the top rated shows on cable.

True Blood doesn't really kick in until mid-way through season one. It's really a slow burner but worth the wait. Season Two is brilliant.

There is not much BBC1 can do here.

F1 doesn't finish in enough time for Strictly, Lottery, Casualty and the News before Match of the Day has to go out at 10.30pm.

Therefore Casualty has to go somewhere (they could push it on to next week, but Christmas would be at the wrong time and they would have to schedule a double bill, with an episode on a Sunday anyway).

So, Sunday is the most appropriate place for Casualty to go and where else could they put it except at 8.10pm?

It's not suitable for 7pm and they already filled the 9pm slot.

In this case they are not doing it to compete with X Factor, they simply don't have room for it anywhere else.

Hank slumped to a 1.6 rating, down 27% from its premiere. Not sure how long ABC will give it. The 8pm slot is the weakest of the week right now, no big shows there at all. 9pm on the other hand is very competitive and from a personal perspective, great to see Glee second in the demo and not far off Criminal Minds either. ABC will be concerned at the drops for their 9pm comedies, though. And Eastwick is doing badly at 10pm.

I wouldn't want it done American Idol style. I think though it could be split over 3 parts, with the first being the results down to the bottom 3, the second being the reveal of who is in the bottom two and the first Song for Survival (with a VT explaining why they've chosen that song), and then the final part being the second Song for Survival and result.



That's about where I expected True Blood to be - it was never going to be a blockbuster. Does it get any repeat screenings? I'm guessing with FX having first run rights, E4 and More4 screenings might be out of the question (though saying that, ITV4 screen Dexter).

Generation Kill - stupid, stupid slot. In a better slot it wasn't going to get much more than a million, but it would be of more value to C4 doing that at 10pm one night a week than doing half that figure at 11.30pm.

And Secret Millionaire - simple over-exposure. I'd watched every episode up until this season, but just haven't bothered this time.


Not too surprised - wonder if it would have done better if E4 had got the rights, where it would have probably fitted in more as the successor to The OC.


Ah, the other viewer! Caught the first series on BBC2 over the summer and it's an enjoyable little series. Nothing flash, but way better than most the rubbish BBC3 put out.


Surprised the 7pm Project hasn't been canned yet. As for Celebrity MasterChef - if Masterchef was the hit of the year, this has to be the flop of the year.
