ITV1 The Bill 3.4m 15%

- The Bill is stable now considering the stv alternative is only getting 6% share in region (which is dragging the overnights down)

Good. They're both dreadful but that whore is easily the worst of the two.

Is that boost partly because they've dropped the friday repeat?

Interesting article about The Bill vs New Tricks, particularly the readers comments about age and economic profiles of the show pre and post re-launch. I think its safe to say The Bill isnt going to be axed just yet.

Glad to see Mock the Week is slowly getting back to the figures it got last year, it was getting nearly 3m last time wasn't it?

I think that must be a typo as it has NT at over 7m for a 30% share and TBs share at 15% which must make it somewhere around 3.5m...

I see It'll Be Alright on the Night is back next Saturday after The Cube.

And the new Anne Robinson fronted Watchdog moves to Thursdays 8-9pm.

Yep, but if i remember correctly it had very poor competion, i think it was against super flop Harley street on itv1.The monday night repeat of mock the week is also doing well with 1.6 million

I wonder if The Bill's increase was to do with the fact that The Mentalist has finished, I agree that the real test will be once New Tricks finishes.

BBC Two did well with The Frankisence Trail beating BBC One, I'm sure BBC One will be happy when Watchdog returns although it seems this new hour long format is just a merger between it and Rogue Traders and Mock the Week increased week on week although it's strange they paired with The Funny Side of... rather than Shooting Stars.

Europa League football seemed a bit low but I guess it will increase once the competition really gets started.

New Tricks has performed very solidly this series with only the first episode considerably above the rest and it has boosted the Thursday schedule greatly.

Another great night for BBC2 and much higher than I expected for The Frankincense Trail. Also The Funny Side Of is doing surprisingly well.

Another decent showing for ITV's soaps, particuarly Emmerdale and it will be interesting to see how they hold up against Watchdog. The very slight increase from The Bill & New Tricks can be explained from the absense of The Mentalist and hopefully The Bill will add another 0.5-1m on when New Tricks finishes. Real Crime also seems to be doing decently in the post NaT slot considering it was a repeat.

Decent showing for FIVE's football bringing in an audience which they like and holding a solid 1m over 2 1/2 hours.

More4 will be screening Southland, NBC's new cop drama, from this autumn. I guess they'll show the 7 episodes from series 1, then run into series 2 which begins at the end of October.

Is the Thursday episode of CS rating and share down on the usual Wednesday figures?

They just look a bit low - share virtually the same as Emmerdale.

Unfortunately it's a repeat. New versions of this must be cheap enough to make.

Indeed, and at the same time ITV ripped it off as Mr Right, which was a complete and utter flop and dumped at midnight for the last few episodes. For some reason The Bachelor did alright, they did three series.

I do hope this longing for Man O Man is a joke. Funnily enough that show was axed twice, they did one series in 1996 which flopped, after which it was axed, but then in 1998 they did two specials, and I remember at the time ITV saying that because of the World Cup, the Saturday night schedules had been too laddish that summer and they wanted something more female friendly. And then the following year they did a whole series again!

It wasn't actually planned to be like this, in the Beeb Programme Information a few weeks back they had two new sitcoms down for Thursday nights, Home Time, which looks a Gavin and Stacey-esque thing, and The Persuasionists which is an IT Crowd-esque audience sitcom with Adam Buxton in it. But they changed their mind and pulled The Funny Side Of... forward instead. Home Time is now down to start in two weeks, when The Funny Side Of... finishes, but The Persuasionists still hasn't shown up.

Although The Funny Side Of... is billed as a series of six in the Radio Times, there's only going to be five shown in this run as the sixth is a Christmas special.

Sorry, three posts in a row. They are cheap to make but I'd rather they hung on until they got enough decent out-takes. It used to be two years between new episodes.

I wonder whether the viewing figures for ITV1 tonight will be higher than the 1.5m for Panathanikos vs Athletico Madrid.

I guess the fact that one of the teams is Barcelona would help, but the fact it is being simulcast on Sky Sports will almost certainly not help.

Anyone for an under 1 million average?

It has only just occurred to me, but surely it would have been better (if possible) for CH4 to have brought the BB finale forward to this Friday with much weaker opposition from ITV1, but maybe it would have been more hastle than it's worth.

I'm just thinking there could have been a BB night starting at 7.30pm on C4 then taking a break whilst EE was on, then returning trying to capture some of the Corrie audience.

And there was me worrying that I overdo it whenever I post two in a row.

Good point on Alright for if you look at Outtake TV, which seemed to turn up more frequently and has even had 6 part series, they do seem to struggle with quality control.

Channel 4 probably decided on these dates months ago and probably wouldn't have realised the Super Cup was on tonight.

And if they did, they couldn't have been sure there wouldn't have been an English club involved as the English clubs have dominated this tournament in recent years with regular finalists and semi-finalists.

I think that is frankly ridiculous. This is a completely different game to a preliminary CL game.
