Just Dance has been renamed 'Got To Dance' - no idea why.

It finished at 23:35, correct, but Broadcast stated that the audience 'fell dramatically over the next 35 minutes' which clearly isn't the case.

Anyway, two predictions from last night:

- SCD: 8.4m
- TXF: 11.5m

I will be surprised if both are not up on last week - the clash was a lot less than in previous weeks which means both will be higher.

In theory, although Strictly starts earlier, it has longer time to build its audience before The X Factor, so its rating could be higher.

Excellent for XF once again...will it ever stop peaking?? With a performance show at nearly 12m, I think another record figure could be on the cards for tonight! Also much better for Piers and it seems his ratings really do depend on the guest and with Danni next week it should be over 5m.

When XF and SCD stop clashing the XF's ratings will be huge and SCD should get a boost aswell.

Big rise for Strictly week-on-week. It should do a little better next week without the direct clash, although perhaps not by much as the early start will be damaging to the overall average.

Piers close to 5m again this week. I guess it will continue to yo-yo up and down depending on the guest. Personally I wasn't that interested in Katherine Jenkins' life story (she's only 29) and certainly the bit in the trailer didn't exactly entice me.

Harry meanwhile is continuing to perform very well indeed despite probably the poorest material since TV Burp began.

On a non ratings related note, there was an article in yesterday's Daily Mirror which claimed the BBC are lining up Ratatouille and Shrek 3 for Christmas Day.

That would be interesting!

I would say BBC1 would go something like this if they put both these films on Christmas Day.

Good ratings across the board for ITV1. The fixed slot for Harry Hill is working very well and it's much better than last year's setup when it was scheduled all over the place. Strong ratings for The X Factor once again, and tonight's show should be around 12.5-13.5m like previous weeks. Life Stories really does depend on the guest, but I'm still surprised as high as 4.7m watched Katherine Jenkins. Next week will probably be over 5m with Dannii Minogue.

Merlin did okay, but the early slots aren't helping it. It's on even earlier next week, so it could be down even more. Strictly did well to get its joint highest of the series, but it is still over a million down from the equivalent figures last year.

Brilliant for The X Factor, and proof I think that Strictly does better earlier regardless of clashes.

Piers did well as well, so did Harry Hill, consistently around 6.6/6.8m.

Piers' Rape Stories benefiting from the acres of press coverage yesterday and on Friday, and its inheritance. I assume it was aggressively plugged during every single TXF ad break last night?

I thought Burp was the strongest in a while last night - and just 2 mins of TXF fluffing. Bet that will have raised eyebrows at ITV Command Centre.





Well, it peaked at 14.8m on Sunday. I'd be surprised if it "out-peaked" that last night, or even got close.

I think that rather than snowballing show by show, BGT-style, it's actually very stable, with around 11-12m committed to the Cult of Cowell (yes, Cult ) and 2-3m floating others who catch bits as they flick around or as other shows start and finish.

Good to see SCD recover from the F1 over-run, with close to 10m at its best, but it's still suffering from ITV's scheduling and massive hyping masterstroke. It's just not able to build the momentum of previous years.

Merlin is the big loser of the Beeb's brave attempt to answer the moaning last year about SCD being dragged out to two shows over the weekend. I suspect it will be back to Saturday/Sundays next year - the laudable idea of having one big all in one SCD show hasn't worked, other than to knock 2m off what TXF's figures would otherwise have been and keep up BBC1's Saturday night share overall - perhaps the Beeb are therefore happy?

Same old shit as every year then. They might as well just repeat the telethon each year as for the last few years it's been the same people doing virtually the same things in between the far too many music appearances of people hijacking the night to sell their albums for Christmas.

Or Merlin (or Strictly) could just move to Sunday nights. If the results show does return, I think it would be on the same night, rather than recorded to air the next night.
