Think about Holly & Phil's workload. This Morning in the week, and all weekend on Dancing on Ice.
Holly must be one of the hardest working women on TV. From the Autumn she'll have This Morning all week, The Xtra Factor all weekend, and Dancing on Ice after Christmas.

Robbie - did you write the script for ITV2's entertainment news?
LOL I'm thinking that is a good theory

And Phil is probably now the most worked presenter at ITV.

He seems to have a high roster of shows, certainly more prevalent than Ant & Dec, Vernon etc.

The Cube, This Morning, Dancing on Ice, All Star Mr & Mrs.

I suggested they do this a while back. There's no need for the results to be live like The X Factor as the interest probably isn't as high. It would give Saturdays in Winter a much needed boost without losing the show completely from Sunday nights.
They could have something like:

6.00 You've Been Framed
6.30 Harry Hill's TV Burp
7.00 All Star Mr. and Mrs.
8.00 Dancing On Ice
9.30 Drama/Film

on Saturday's, then:

7.00 Dancing on Ice: The Skate Off
8.00 Wild at Heart
9.00 Lewis

on Sunday's. Could really boost their post Christmas weekend schedule.

Dont tell Griff but Go With Noakes once got 13 million viewers
Bullseye famously once got 19m on a Sunday teatime in the 80s and was the most-watched show that week beating Corrie. Jim Bowen often mentions this...

Not guilty.

GeorgeS works for ITV doesn't he, maybe it was him?

How times have changed. Even if Bullseye is bought back it'd be lucky to hit 4m.

Not guilty.

And Celebrity Juice...

So she'll do This Morning from Monday-Thursday (assuming they don't drop Eamonn & Ruth), film Celebrity Juice on Tuesday afternoon/evening then Xtra Factor all weekend plus any pre-recorded bits during the week (probably Friday).

Tbh, I'm not really sure why she took This Morning. For all the extra work to be on a little watched daytime show. It somehow seems to have top presenters despite this!

And Phil is probably now the most worked presenter at ITV.

I think that with BGT and I'm A Celebrity (which is where they really excel), Ant & Dec are still the top presenters on UK TV whatever happens to Takeaway. But Phil is definitely not far behind and probably does the most hours.

Ant & Dec are talking about taking Takeaway to the US. Not sure how likely it is, tbh. It's very British and very much Saturday night TV which just doesn't exist in the US.

http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/p...004805.article

I'd guess that the story might just be a negotiating ploy.

Shame really, it was one of ITV's finest ever shows.

Considering that their last US venture flopped, I can't see SNT faring well at all and most likely most make it past pilot stage.

Speaking of UK formats going to the US, unlike last year with Eleventh Hour and Life On Mars, no UK drama will be remade for US broadcast networks next year. Some were considered (Being Human, No Heroics among a few others) but none made it in the end.

Two entertainment formats will head over. Lets Dance For Comic Relief is being made for ABC. It is confirmed on the production companies website, although there hasn't been much word on when it will be shown. Some suggested mid-season when Dancing With The Stars takes a break but that slot is usually filled by The Bachelor. The other is Undercover Boss for CBS, made by Stephen Lambert's new indie and also shown by Channel 4, I can't remember what ratings it got so I guess that means they were neither great nor awful!

I'm not really sure that either of these will do too well. But then again, most people wrote off "Lets Dance" for the UK and it got 7m! Could be a surprise hit?!

So will ABC replace one season of Dancing with the Stars with Let's Dance, or will they place it mid season? And I wonder what they'll fill the other gap with if the latter's the case - Dancing on Ice USA?

Actually, Skins to be remade by MTV, I like Skins but MTV is the wrong network for it. If it should be remade then it should be on HBO, Showtime, Starz or at a push FX as they have less restrictions.

The only shows I can think that could be remade without much changes is New Tricks and with the right cast could be a hit although it would skew old and also The Thick of It although that have to go to HBO or Showtime.

Let's Dance could work as a short series and it's compatible with DWTS plus it's lighthearted and for charity so it could work although where they could air it I don't know.

If I see a news channel interview Uri Geller one more time... GRR...

Anyway, back on topic...

The BBC have monopolised Olympic broadcast rights in the UK in recnt times but that could come to an end as of 2014.
The rights were effectively put up for auction when the International Olympic Committee, for the first time in 50 years, rejected a bid from the European Broadcasting Union - the umbrella organisation that holds the rights for Vancouver 2010 and London 2012.
But the BBC is likely to competition from Sky television, who have confirmed their interest, and as highlighted with Premier League football rights, having the financial clout to blow the BBC out of the water.

Working in the BBC's favour is the fact that the Olympics are currently protected by government legislation that ensures a number of high profile sporting events must be reserved for free-to-air broadcast television.

But that list is currently under review and while former culture secretary Andy Burnham favoured the status quo, he has now been replaced by Ben Bradshaw.
And, not for the first time, media and mogul and Sky television owner Rupert Murdoch could get his way.

The Murdoch-owned pay-TV channel Sky Italia has already snapped up the rights for the 2014 and 2016 Games in Italy, while Murdoch's Fox Turkey won the rights for Turkey.

I would be shocked if Sky won it, but another article I read said that even if it remains a Group A event Sky were still considering a bid, given that by 2014 their free-to-air channels will reach over 95% of the country. That would be a particularly odd leap into free-to-air commercial television and I dont see it happening myself.

The Olympics are very expensive, I believe NBC Universal paid $1.1 billion to secure the rights to both the Summer and Winter Olympics. I think the most likely scenario is that a joint bid between all the terrestrials or a BBC/ITV bid like they do with The World Cup and Euro.

No, DWTS is confirmed for 2 series as usual. It usually finishes at the start of December, so depending on the length of Lets Dance, they could maybe fit it in over 3 weeks?

(Dancing on Ice USA flopped on FOX in 2006 under the name Skating With Celebrities).

New Tricks could work for CBS. MTV generally upsets the right wing loonies at the Parents Television Council anyway, but as you say, it might still struggle with restrictions. Plus, MTV isn't really known for drama!

Who do these moderators think they are splitting our thread?

Anyway, just a quick note - Material Girl seems to have been removed from the Press Pack for the week it was due to start. Maybe they're looking at launching it later in the year to see if they can get better figures.

Oh, and how do we think the return of Shooting Stars will do at 10pm on Wednesday?

Interesting... I wonder why MG has been moved. Maybe TPTB have got cold feet after the drubbing the last series of Hotel Babylon got (MG is actually Fashion Babylon under another name), so perhaps they want to ensure a decent gap between this and the end of HB.

I reckon 2.3 for Shooting Stars - not massive, as I think public interest has waned somewhat, but enough to be of note for a midweek 10pm debut.

Only problem is DOI would have to be earlier on a Saturday as they'd also have to record the results show later that night. Probably swap DOI with Mr and Mrs.

ITV should definitely consider it.

Says who? Broadcast forgot that it ended at 10.50 pm so the last 15 minutes were actually the Late News.

If it started with 3.6m and averaged 3.1m, then assuming "trickle loss", it should have ended on about 2.6m. However, if it lost most of its viewers in, say, the first 15min, then the ending figure would have been higher. Essentially, the sooner it lost viewers, the more would have remained at the end!

Even if the crown jewels list is dramatically reduced, it's highly unlikely the Olympics or even the World Cup would be removed, so Sky is a non-starter.

I wouldn't be completely against them showing overlooked elements of it - the football tournament for example, but should the rights be shared it's got to be that the FTA broadcaster is the primary rights holder, giving what it knows it won't cover much to Sky, rather than Sky being the primary rights holder and giving as less as possible to the FTA broadcaster.

Fantastic for Hotel Inspector. I think the other channels got roughly what they deserved for a dull Monday, especially Can You Bank On Me which seemed a rather confused and ultimately pointless way for BBC1 to fill an hour IMO.
