Low ratings all round at 8:30 last night - Multichannel must have done well.

Last year got 4.2m and 4.9m in the overnights. You've quoted the officials.

Still, poor for Big Brother last night! A peak of just over 3m is bad.

Coronation Street was slightly dented by BB at 8:30pm, but Rebus did well in the 9pm slot. The Tudors' rating was low for BBC2, but QI (repeat) did alright at 10pm.

Brighton Beach Control's rating for Five is good. I'm sure it's above slot average.

It was fairly low all round last night! My Family repeats do a fairly good job at brining in respectable amount of viewers, and is getting roughly the same as what new episodes of After You've Gone was getting in the same slot.

Not surprised at all by BB's figures - I said yesterday they wouldn't be much more than a regular eviction as unlike previous years, people weren't even aware it had reached the final (or was still going on). In the past the final was boosted because it got the press coverage, so the occasional viewer tuned in.


For me personally - never missed a final before (or indeed an episode up until this series), but this year didn't even find out the result till this morning. Did tape the final to skim through - but physically could just not watch it. Same old problems, and ridiculous still for every single eviction they insist on a full hour of highlights and a 20-minute interview, yet for the final it's about 6 minutes of highlights (and nothing of the final day), with about 8 minutes per interview.


In skimming through it though I noticed that C4 blatantly broke the broadcasting code with the final ad break. Internal breaks are supposed to be no longer than 3 minutes 50 seconds (including a 20 second trailer), but the last one was closer to six minutes.

I found it OK to be honest, although I would have preferred the IDH to win.

What an awful finish for BB, which just shows there is just no public interest at all anymore.

Everything though seemed down, particuarly both Corries, The Tudors and the news bulletins.

3.9m for a Rebus repeat sticks out for me though as I'm sure new episodes were only getting around 4.5m on a Friday night and quite shocking it is on par with the ratings for Wuthering Heights and beat new drama The Fixer and The Bill.

lol at BB! It should have ended last night, if not then, 3 years ago, when BB still had it. I still remember when C4 decided to sign that contract for another 4 years for the programme back in 2006, and thinking "this isn't going to be a good idea". Yes, BB7 did well for a 13 week run (which was too much), but it was very lucky, as it was quite hit and miss. What annoyed me the most then it was renewed though was how other shows like Sugar Rush and it's other good potential drama/comedy hits had to take the axe due to costs.

That's a surprisingly good rating for a Rebus repeat; be interesting to see what that episode got on its first showing, i bet it wasn't much more than 4m.

The original airing of that episode on 2nd January 2006 actually got 8.4m (33%) in the overnights!

Gosh, what did BBC1 put up against that - Panorama?

Two surprises, firstly how low CBBC is, hence the eek - this must be having a huge impact on BBC One's all-day share. Secondly, GMTV seems quite low as well compared to what we've seen previously.

I must admit the BBC's scheduling of SCD next to CS is somewhat baffling, when you look at the similarities in the demographics its a kin to TXF going up against EE.

Does anybody know how well How I Met Your Mother did on E4?

BBC1 is constantly ahead of ITV1 in daytime share and all-day share and they've even been ahead in peak share for the past few weeks, even with X Factor around. Therefore, there is no problem in BBC1 screening children's programmes as part of their public service broadcasting for the small amount of time left before digital switchover is complete. When that happens, all TV viewers will have access to the CBBC and CBeebies channels and then the BBC would be able to axe all, or most, children's telly from BBC1 and BBC2.

To be fair, BB is still a ratings success by C4 standards, just not by BB standards.

Those ratings for BB are quite incredible.
Incredibly low I mean of course.

The standout figure from the detailed list is that for This Morning which doesnt seem too far ahead of the point where it may be asked if its all worth it.

I'm sure the shares were higher for the last series.

ITV will be hoping some of the Dancing on Ice magic rubs off on it when Phil Schofield returns with his new co-presenter.

I like the way Pages from Ceefax beat Big Brother Live!

My daughter and I watched Medium last night so I would also be interested in the ratings.

Some interesting things going on in the world of daytime TV it would appear with yesteryear's flagships This Morning and Countdown really struggling to attract a decent sized audience.

IMO at least one of these shows won't be on air in a year's time. Both are vulnerable especially during these difficult financial times.

Big Brother went out on a whimper as expected, although ratings for the second show in particular were a touch lower than what I thought it would get. I don't suppose it matters much at this point though and as someone said it's fine for C4's standards.

Disappointing to see Home and Away slip below 1m considering the quality of the show right now. Some major storylines going on such as Belle's tumour, which has been wonderfully acted by all the young talent involved. Really heartbreaking to watch though.

Friday's Fiver episode was brilliant so I hope it does well when it airs on Five on Monday.

I'm not sure how much the E4 Big Brother Live figure gets so you can get a proper representation of how many people watched BB live.

Digital Spy reports that Big Brother's Big Mouth had 504,000 (4.8%) which is impressive considering the Channel 4 show didn't rate well.
