Looks as though (apart from c5) multichannel was the big winner at 9pm:

At 9pm:
BBC1 gained 0.15m
BBC2 lost 0.4m
ITV1 lost 5.1m
C4 gained 0.3m
C5 gained 0.95m
Overall, the terrestrials lost 4.1m viewers at 9pm!

Not surprised I usually watch the Street at 9 on Mondays, last night I watched Caribbean made easy on BBC2 for half an hour and then switched off the TV, nothing on.

Strictly Celebrities...

Jo Wood, Ricky Whittle, Phil Tuffnell, Rav Wilding, Laila Rouass, Zoe Lucker, Craig Kelly, Jade Johnson, Chris Hollins, Martina Hingis, Ricky Groves, Richard Dunwoody, Natalie Cassidy, Joe Calzaghe, Lynda Bellingham, Ali Bastian

Seems ok, I guess. Phil Tuffnell was seen auditioning for Dancing on Ice, so its good to see he kept his options open.

Not really a big huge name in it though - no-one you would tune in especially to see. Joe Calzaghe maybe.

I somehow had a feeling "The Boyle Effect" would mean that TV shows in America would be keeping a close eye on The X Factor. Guess I was right...

So, no Fern Britton ? That would have given the show a boost.

Not a great line-up there. It's all a bit, meh. Probably reflective of the fee being offered, I read it was a flat rate for all this year.

Who is Chris Hollins?
Is he the "action man" off the BBC news channel? The one who does all the "odd sports" reports.

He's not even that great - good enough, but certainly not the best auditionee Simon has ever seen - not even within the last 12 months. And all pushing him in America and raising the hype does is re-enforce the view is that he isn't that special.

It's all a bit contrived really. They were pushing the 'best first audition' rubbish before the show had even aired. The beauty of the 'Boyle' effect was that her popularity was completely unexpected - even to the producers.

I thought his performance on The X Factor was good, but the editing of the show left a lot to be desired. The producers obviously think the average ITV viewer has just two brain cells , and wanted us to believe that Simon and co had lunch and then went back for just one more act to perform - and he was amazing - well erm, good - but only if you count shouting a song rather than singing as good, or "amazing". Then receive comments like "Im glad you walked through the door today", "you have just made this contest interesting" and the favourite one, not yet used "you could have a hit single with that version".

To answer an earlier question Eammon and Ruth ARE staying with This Morning and in fact are doing all of next week - its first week back after the summer break.

I read somewhere that the reason was that Holly was committed to The X Factor next week and for obvious reasons they did not want to kick off the new 'dream team' of presenters with just Phil on his own or with someone else.

2.6m again for Would I Lie To You, not bad at all for the 10:35 slot (well it beat thier 9:00 offering anyway ) Does it look likly that it will be recommissioned in the same slot?

ITV1's Summer schedule doesn't seem to be performing well at all with only The Bill above 3m in the 9pm Mon-Fri slot last week, but ITV's multichannels are capitalising on this and seem to have had a very good summer. The ITV2 films & AGT seem to perform very well as do the ITV3 drama repeats.

Quite shocking to see Monday Monday actually win its slot, but 2.8m will not see it get a recomission and ITV will probably steer clear of this genre now.

Fantastic rating for The Hotel Inspector matching BBC1. It has really taken off this series and I can see FIVE capitalising on its success and having some sort of spin off show like The Shop Inspector (similar to Mary Queen Of Shops). The Hotel Inspector must be one of FIVE's top rated homegrown shows ever.

I expected at least a million more from BBC1 in the 9pm slot considering the weak competition, but later on WILTY seems to be doing well in the 10.35pm slot and it seems to have been a good move to move it from Friday 9pm.

The show has really improved with Alex at the helm although I did like Ruth, Considering it got 1.2m for the first series with Alex this is a marked improvement and moving it to Monday has helped its ratings, I expect a recommision is in order.

Five have had a great summer with CSI:Miami, The Mentalist pulling in a steady audience, the cricket highlights doing very well, The Hotel Inspector and The Gadget Show pulling in their highest audiences and even the repeats of the US shows are doing well especially NCIS which is rating as well or better than last year.

Firstly, that shows Holly didn't need This Morning (and to an extent, This Morning doesn't need Holly). She's got regular work on ITV from August through to Easter.

Secondly, glad Eammonn and Ruth are staying, but they'd have been better off holding back This Morning a week rather than launching for four days without their new partnership.

I think she might be missing a few times over the next few weeks. She has to go to Los Angeles, Dubai, Marrakesh and Tuscany for the judges houses (albeit only one house is a home) within the next few weeks.

Eamon & Ruth are presenting for the first two weeks. Phillip and his bland new dolly bird are back the 3rd week in sept.

That must be one of the lowest 9pm slot winning ratings of the year !

So, the SCD Friday editions will surely have to be 90 minutes, so looks like a Corrie clash on the way.
