Totally agree, the celebrity items with the girl off eastenders and Gabby Logan were just awful.
The old format was getting 5 million against corrie, why in the name of god did they change it and that song was just cringeworthy.

I dunno why its been dropped, its not as if early saturday evening BBC one is much watch this weekend it could have easily replaced the 6th episode of the weakest link on BBC one this week.

I have an sneaky suspicion that the new friday one show hour long edition well have an special preview coverage with their new star reporter Arlene Phillips.

Won't be as good as a dedicated programme. How's it going to do jammed between an article on World War II and a report on village fetes?

At least it wont have to share air time with Britains largest vegetables, which was on today.

By next Friday we might be onto the smallest vegetables.

Andrew Lloyd Webber is to stay at the BBC and the wizard of oz show will now start later than orginally planned. So thats one less headache for Jay Hunt.

Ant and Dec have been banned from going on Jonathon Ross after BBC banned Barbara Windsor from featuring in Piers Morgan interview according to The Sun. They mention how relationship between channels is at an all time low and the newspaper is fully blaming the BBC and wants the Trust to get involved in the X Factor/SCD dispute.

I'm usually fairly good at googling these things, but where (apart from todays article) is there any previous reference to Babs being banned from going on Piers Morgan?

I dare say they're pleased enough with that. Anything that pulls a 20%+ share opposite the soaps would be considered a very decent performance. The question is whether anyone will tune out after the bad reviews.

The format was certainly clunky - odd attempts at humour and pointless celebrity guests - it needs some changing but its nothing that can't be fixed over time.

The Bill posted 4.1m, as expected, with NT repeats starting (but that still got 5.3m!)

Not ratings related but it seems that Mary Portas has been poached by Channel 4 after a bidding war and she is meant to be receiving £500,000 over two years.

It is funny that a lot of stars from the various channels like Heston Blumenthal, Ruth Watson and now Mary Portas defect to Channel 4 but it annoys me that considering the BBC are under fire for talent pay, Channel 4 who are meant to be pleading poverty are able to sign up new talent without any fuss.

The return of Watchdog made a very good start up against tough competition and it seemed to dent the other terrestrials as it was up about 2m on what it had been getting in that slot!

As expected for the 9pm slot with New Tricks repeats rating strongly, because they were airing on the back of a new series (a technique which works very well for a few weeks after), but I can see the gap widening now with The Bill continuing to increase and New Tricks continuing to decrease.

Very poor nights for both CH4 and FIVE.

When people start to realise NTs are in repeats, The Bill will rise further.

When I came on and see four pages of ratings discussion, I thought most of it would be on last night - instead only four posts talk about last night!

Good night for BBC One with Watchdog and the New Tricks repeat doing well. Watchdog even built it's audience through the hour which is a good sign.

Not a good night for Five though, I don't know the Primetime Shares, but I suspect ITV2 might have been close to beating it.

On a side note, thanks to ITV Media for reporting the Countrywise figure - we haven't had it for a while! It seems to be doing pretty well, 3.7m isn't that bad in what tends to be a tricky slot - I think its on par with what The Krypton Factor was doing earlier this year.

That's very decent for Countrywise and seems to benefit from the Emmerdale sandwich. Also those Emmerdale figures switched round make more sense. The Thursday 8pm show continues to be the strongest of the week and appears to be one of the most successful changes of the ITV schedule.

Quite embarassing for WAT to get under 1.2m for CH4 when the CSI crossover episode on FIVE:USA got over 2m last year! I think FIVE would be better aquiring this show because it suits their audience more.

Interesting to see Watchdog actually increase against Corrie and as D.M.N says it seems to take its audience from Ch4.

Can someone tell me though why FIVE changed their schedule at the last minute and aired a film at 9pm? Was this due to how poorly You're Nicked! performed last week?

Also anyone know where Flash Forward is being slotted yet?

Regarding ITV2 scheduling Trinity appears to be getting a Sunday 10pm slot following on from new The Xtra Factor where it should do decently. There's also a 9pm repeat on Wednesday. I suspect it would need at least 0.5m+ for a recomission.

I caught this by chance. I was doing a bit of channel-flicking to see if I could spot any switchover warning captions.

It was very tacky. No surprise to see Mark Austin including that item in News at Ten, as he's always struck me as a bit of an anti-Beeb.

It's not the BBC's fault he's spent his ITV career in Trevor McDonald's shadow.

Without a Trace is on More4 and so it's audience on Channel 4 is going to be affected by it and it's been cancelled in the States anyway.

I suspect it was due to the poor performance of You're Nicked although it didn't do any better. It's football next week and then a docusoap called Vice Squad which I suspect will do well as it appeals to the same audience as Police Interceptors, Brighton Beach Patrol and Soho Blues.

FlashForward is scheduled for Monday 29th September which mean Warship is off the schedule which is strange as it wasn't doing badly, also scheduled after it is Ross Noble's Australian Trip.
