Bizzare. I thought Stuart Murphy was a bad choice. He was hopeless at BBC3. No direction and lots of unoriginality. He seems to be doing the same here.

Good gig for Davina though. They seem to be spending a lot on it and they've got two production companies making it.

Calzaghe is the star in the line-up, and probably the overall winner.

Richard Woolfe seemed to have ambition, some of his ideas weren't so great but he often pulled in big audiences with their moves into drama, big steals like Lost and big names from Ross Kemp to Noel Edmonds to Gladiators. I think putting Davina on this show gives it a chance as she'll attract some publicity, but I'm not sure it will be enough.

I think these shows often thrive on being "water cooler TV" which might make it hard for anything on digital channels at this stage. Maybe a programme can be too big for the channel? It's what I think prevents the likes of A&D and Cowell moving to Sky or Virgin at this stage.

Virgin Media have got Claudia Rosencrantz (ex ITV Entertainment Controller) running their channels. She commissioned Millionaire, Pop Idol, PopStars, X Factor, I'm A Celebrity, Saturday Night Takeaway, Dancing On Ice and tried to commission Britain's Got Talent in 2005. Seems pointless to put someone with that track record running Living TV where the biggest it will ever get is Jade Goody's wedding.

Tuesday's really are a factual bonanza

Grimefighters first, followed by Car Crime UK, then over to BBC1 for Motorway Cops, then after the news it's more car crime in Police, Camera, Action or more dirty houses in Neighbourhood Watched!

Although I haven't predicted too high on the RPG, I wouldn't be surprised to see Wuthering Heights score some big ratings (6.5m) this weekend with it being a bank holiday Sunday. Seems like the kind of thing that could appeal to the Sunday night audience.

ITV still don't appear to have confirmed what is going in the Monday slot in 2 weeks according to Radio Times. It has been a while since the drama successes of the first few months of 2009, but they do have a fair number of successful shows to pick from to put in that slot.

Really good decision I think. She isn't unknown and well established in reality TV. In some respects she almost seems too good for Sky, although she hasn't really been in demand lately. It should be a hit if marketed and produced properly. Dancing on BGT is always very popular and I'm really surprised BBC/ITV haven't cashed in on it yet. I know BBC had DanceX but that had dire production values.

They had Strictly Dance Fever hosted by... Graham Norton of course! It was basically SCD without the celebrities and using normal couples instead. Made it through 2 series but didn't really take off.

They also have the Eurovision Dance Contest and Lets Dance For Comic Relief which has been fairly successful albeit the latter is more comedy. ITV did the ghastly Baby Ballroom and a one off special last year called "Everybody Dance Now" which did OK.

I'm surprised that after Diversity won BGT, nobody tried to capitalise on it by making a UK version of America's Best Dance Crew which does really well for MTV. Unfortunately, it's probably too late now as they have been forgotten.

Strictly Dance Fever was, as you say, just SCD without celebrities (so just like SCD ?). It isn't really the same, its the street/break dancing that has been really popular on BGT.

Perhaps it will clash with that ghastly sounding Michael Jackson Dance competition on the BBC.

It'll be interesting to see if that ever gets made. A few years back (2007), CBS developed a show called "Pop Dynasty" to find a new superstar singing family and it was to be judged by Tito, Jermaine and Latoya Jackson. It never made it to air, but it's the kind of thing that is probably getting looked at again.

I suppose it was for the best that BGT didn't go ahead in 2005/6 as that was the real low point for ITV (yes, lower than now!) where it was just wall-to-wall reality and barely a drama in sight. It might have been overkill and potentially a flop.

OT but the BGT Wikipedia page has/had a link where it showed that 'Paul O'Grady's Got Talent' was copyrighted by Syco. Can you imagine if they'd have used that as the name?!

Come off it, one or two are non-entities, but viewers will know the vast majority, and it looks a strong and competitive line-up which should make for an interesting series.

I do think the Beeb has to be careful how it promotes SCD. Two quick trails in every single junction so far this evening when I've been watching - I hope this doesn't continue for the next month...

There's quite a few in there I don't have a clue of and very few to hit the heights of C List status. I probably know more of the names from the US version coming up than the UK one. But as I said, I don't see it making any difference. The show is strong enough in its own right that the standard of celebrity doesn't really matter.

According to broadcast the show isnt commissioned yet, and if it is it will air on Bbc 3 in the autumn.Not Bbc one as The sun had reported.

Talk about promotion overdrive. The X Factor's promotion looks slow in comparison. I reckon BBC1 are concerned about the Friday shows paying off, so are flogging it for all it's worth.

As someone else said, if I was BBC1, I'd be tempted to move Strictly to 8 to get a jump on Coronation Street, with EastEnders at 9.30pm. Of course, ITV might try and defeat that by making Coronation Street all in one from 7.30-8.30 on that Friday night, with a film or 90 minute repeat following it. Could be an intriguing time for the ratings...

Last night: Poor in the 9pm slot for BBC1 and ITV1, though it's a massive shame about Monday, Monday. I hope it doesn't put ITV1 off from trying out these 'quirky' dramas in the future. Hotel Inspector did really well, and hurt Monday, Monday and The Street when it started. Is it me, or was Big Brother low for a Monday night highlights programme?

Indeed. Really, what they need are personalities. They have to get about 15 weeks out of these people, no matter how famous they are, if they're bland and boring they'll make for a boring series. (This is particularly true for the reality shows like Big Brother and I'm A Celeb).

Having not particularly famous celebrities has never done any of the other shows any harm.

It seems odd reading Davina is to host a show on Sky One, she's far too high profile.

Davina has her faults but she is a great host, she has always been very good on Comic Relief and Sport Relief.
