Having not particularly famous celebrities has never done any of the other shows any harm.”

Celebrity Big Brother 2009 had quite a well known cast. They weren't exactly A list but celebrities most had heard of nonetheless. Look what happened there.

Cat Deeley arrived, then Fearne Cotton for a short while and now Holly Willoughby. ITV just take female presenters, chew them up then drop them like a lead balloon once they're done and there is a younger model to trade them in for. Caroline Flack will be next.

Well, Popstars wasn't recommissioned and then in 2003, she presented "Reborn in the USA" which flopped and then "Love on a Saturday Night" in 2004 didn't do particularly well either.

She then did a few things for BBC1, where "He's Having A Baby" flopped in 2005 and the infamous "Davina" in 2006. Then in 2007, BB went into decline and her performance came in for increasing criticism and she hasn't found other work since.

Erm wasn't it the BBC that effectively ended Davina's career ?

Remember 'He's Having a Baby' & the 'Davina' chatshow ?

Yes, maybe she's just not that popular

If its a hit, I wonder if she'll be 'advised' by her agent to pull out of BB11? It is likely to be the last one and if someone takes over hosting duties for the final series, it somewhat distances her from BB and could make her less typecast for future presenting roles, even though she will always be "her who presents Big Brother".

Oh good lord, what on earth were they thinking with that programme?! I can even remember the dreadfully edited promo for it where the BBC1 logo blocked one of the women's face!

And I have to agree with the line-up for SCD, I only recognise Phil Tufnall and that's only because he was on I'm A Celeb.

This article suggests Marple will go out on Sunday 6th September at 8pm.

And this is a damning view on the Strictly line-up

It has to be said that she was a bit unlucky with Popstars considering that it did pretty well for the series she presented averaging more than 7 million viewers which is about the same as X Factor 1.

Things have gone against her recently, missing out on This Morning and she had been tipped for a revived version of Blind Date which never happened (probably thankfully!). Axeing John Noel (her long time agent) doesn't seem to have helped and he's probably quite happy with Tess Daly on SCD and Christine Bleakley and Caroline Flack likely to do some primetime presenting in the future.

I think she could have reinvented herself with This Morning. And women don't seem to be holding that many primetime jobs on their own just now. (And after Millie Clode's showstopping performance on The Colour of Money, I think this is something which must be rectified! ).

Sunday week - I wonder what it'll have as a lead in? Another crime drama repeat, maybe?

I think the line up is half decent. Has more potential than last year IMO.

It's not surprising news, but The Sun are reporting that Big Brother will end after BB11 (next summer). They say an announcement will be made on Friday.

The move would leave 100 hours of primetime C4 up for grabs.

I hope this is true, but we've had similar stories in the past which have turned out to be pure tittle tattle.

Its rumoured to be announced at 12 midday today according to mediaguardian. The downside for Ch4 is that they lose 25% of their revenue if they have no BB, so they have no money to make any programmes to fill the void [on e4 especially]

Thanks to dt2006 for the following:

Latest Merlin promotional pictures have it down as starting on Week 38 which would be Saturday 19th September. A uninterrupted run would take it to December 12th. The case for the Waters of Mars on December 19th increases.

December 19th I think would be SCD final night as well, so it would make sense.

Alternatively an interrupted run would take it to December 19th and means there's no danger of its series finale clashing with the X Factor final assuming that that's on the weekend of the 12th in order to catch the Xmas no 1.

I eat my words - confirmed on BBC news, although I'm sure it's been running since 2000 not 2002 as reported. Worst case scenario would be that there would be a resurgence in viewers for the final run, earning it a reprieve.

The worst case scenario is in the last paragraph of the BBC report.. But it'll probably be on Sky One or Virgin 1 or Living, and aside from the occasional Simpsons, I don't go anywhere near any of them.

That last paragraph wasn't in the initial report - if you're going to a final CBB, get it over and done with at the start of 2010

ITV killed Big Brother by pushing up the cost for Channel 4. I expect the BBC to pick it up. It will be something to use Graham Norton on!

Very poor for ITV in the 9pm slot. Anyone else think Big Brother will, ironically, get a ratings boost next year because people know it'll be the "final series" - and thus will tune in just to see the final days countdown?

I hope Channel 4 treat it good next year though and don't throw it around the schedule like this year. BTW, anyone want to guess what is number #1 trending topic on Twitter? I'm interested to see if this may give the remainder of this series a boost as well.

FIVE come 2nd in the 9pm slot...again! Very poor night for ITV1 with their all hours just above 13%!

Much better night for BBC1 than on Monday. People will watch these cop shows if nothing else is on it seems. Next week sees a Traffic Cops repeat, but it is against The Fixer & Jamie so I can see it sub 4m.

Looks like Grimefighters is rating badly in its new Tuesday 19:30 slot. Latest officials out, and it got 2.81m.

That's down from about 5m when it was being shown on Wednesdays at 19:30.

Dear god !

You know TV's broke when those are the primetime delights we have to look forward to .

And King Kong's official rating came in at 2.36m!

ITV's weekly share is 15.2% - its second worst in history.
