Sounds awful. What are they thinking?
Mind you Peter Fincham has a track record with these pointless, dull Saturday night things - When Will I Be Famous? springs to mind. I realise its difficult to come up with original ideas, but really if there is nothing better than that they might as well stick on repeats. |

This one sounds ever worse :
Celebs Behaving Strangely Six one-hour shows are being lined up for Friday nights at 9pm. ITV hope the show, with dates yet to be confirmed, will become cult viewing. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...-a-nobody.html |

Only last week people were saying that ITV didn't have anything for Saturday nights in January.
The Whole 19 Yards All Star Mr and Mrs All Star Family Fortunes Take Me Out Vernon Kay Pilot Ant & Dec Gameshow You've Been Framed maybe TV Burp? Or the possibility of Dancing on Ice being split over Saturday/Sunday. |

There really does seem to be a shortage of ideas in entertainment on a global scale. The fact that the BBC recently commissioned SYTYCD? shows that because they've obviously knocked it back a few times in the past. There just aren't the big formats breaking through recently. I (and others) have said it a million times but they should have given shows like Duel and Pokerface a shot. Particularly the latter. Or even Gameshow Marathon. I also think they should do a UK version of "I Get That A Lot" which was a surprise hit on CBS. But it can only really run 3 episodes or so per series as the joke would wear off pretty quick. I like that ITV are trying a dating show, but I'm not sure that's the right format. |

Saw on the front of some woman's magazine today it said Fern Britton was in 'secret' talks to work with Paul O'Grady. Anyone know anymore?

We're going into Hole in the Wall territory now. |

They use a sample which is representative of the population. They get a special box attached to their TV which monitors what they are watching.
More info: http://www.barb.co.uk/about/tvMeasurement?_s=4 How come I never get asked to be part of one of these surveys? Maybe I'm paradoxically not representative enough? Or is it one of those things that only other people ever get asked to do, like jury service? |

I totally agree - its not as if the arguments are going anywhere as the ITV and BBC supporters just wont accept their side can do any wrong.
As usual the real truth is somewhere in the middle. Both sides have tried to play games with the situation and both are idiots. They are banking on all publicity being good which may not necessarily be the case. And well done everybody for agreeing this is one on which we'll have to agree to disagree. ![]() Waking the Dead has surprised me over the past couple of days - seeming immune to the great ratings of Doc Martin and continuing its good performance on Monday night. A true "ratings banker" if ever there was one. Blue Murder has found it tough going this autumn, and with all the ITV crime dramas doing so well at the start of the year - I don't think ITV would have too much of a problem replacing it if they decided this series would be the last. The soaps are really starting to prosper as autumn sets in now, with EastEnders and Emmerdale in a comparatively stronger position with Corrie than we usually see. Also worth noting on Monday night is that Bang Goes The Theory has found a decently stable audience. Hardly a smash, but 15-20% shares against Corrie are probably decent enough to see it return. I'd rather they refined it and gave it a nicer Wednesday slot - though I guess something has to go against the soaps. ---- The US is clearly much more interesting than here in ratings terms at the moment. House was massive considering its a real veteran show these days. Dancing With The Stars is continuing to decline - though with two cycles a year for the last 4 years, I don't think its surprising. As for Jay Leno - well its a long way down, but you'd expect it to be. I maintain that a 1.5 demo is pretty good for NBC (their average at 10pm last season was only 2.3). Leno might just benefit as other shows fall from their much hyped premieres and people are looking for some TV wallpaper. And then theres the reruns factor too, where he might make some ground back towards that 1.5. |

Final ratings are in from the US. All the CBS comedies gained 0.1 in the demo to make a good night even better. Heroes also gained 0.1 but when you're more than 40% down year to year, who cares?! House was up 0.2 to a very impressive 6.7 and more than 17m viewers. Gossip Girl slipped badly from last weeks third season premiere.
To summarise: FOX - Great news CBS - Good night, steady as ever ABC - Bad night NBC - Awful CW - Would Dawn Ostroff please turn off the light as she leaves? David Letterman beat Jay Leno last night thanks to an appearance by Barack Obama. He had over 7m marking his best performance since 2005. Last Weeks Top 10: 1. Sunday Night Football (NBC) - 24.8m 2. Pre-Kickoff (NBC) - 18.9m 3. The Jay Leno Show (NBC) - 18.4m 4. America's Got Talent (NBC) - 15.8m 5. Post Game (CBS) - 15.5m 6. America's Got Talent (NBC) - 13.9m 7. Emmy Awards (CBS) - 13.5m 8. The Jay Leno Show (NBC) - 13.4m 9. Football Night in America (NBC) - 13.4m 10. 60 Minutes (CBS) - 13.1m NBC had 7 entries. It's the first and last time anyone will say that for a while. 2 were Leno, 2 were Got Talent and 3 were football related. Does anybody actually watch The CW ![]() Melrose Place has flopped big time, I wonder if Heather Locklear can save it a second time around.

Disappointing. ITV is down year on year on Tuesdays, mainly because of the weaker lead in to the 8pm hour, but The Fixer isnt really doing the business either.

I like SCD...but I read that SCD will be over two hours long from Sat 3rd October...my god even for a fan that is just was too long...they are seriously on the way to damage the show if its on for this long...cant they split it up like they use to? an hour dancing show take a break for Merlin and the Lottery, and then the results show for half an hour or so..it worked before!
