If this update supposidly enables future updates (which according to Bob_Cat I believe it does), then if any box misses this update, will it be stuck at 1.0.2 forever I wonder.

If you still have v01 I doubt it will work. You will likely have to start the update manually and then transfer the cable carefully to input 2.

Hi,
I have a one cable setup and V1.0.2.
I attempted the update to V1.0.3 using "Setup->Software Update->Automatic Update". The update is detected but download fails with error code E-0S

Anyone else having this problem ?

Barry, over at Hummy.org reports that this scenario works OK, here.

Maybe try the Factory Reset, or Manual update details he gives.

Rgds.

Thanks for the suggestion Les.
I tried the manual update from Transponder 11427.
That failed also.

I have a different bootloader to the one mentioned in the working scenario by Barry on the hummy.org thread.
I wonder if this is the reason for the problem as the machine seems to be "booted" into the bootloader when
the download is running.

My setup is a follows:

Single cable updating from version 1.00.02......Loader Version 7.51, with loop thru cable'

Automatic Update - Software detected, download fails with error E-OS.

Manual Update - Transponder 11427 (left the rest of the settings as they were) - Software detected, download fails with error E-OS.

Factory Reset - not tried yet, I don't want to lose my recording schedule. I'll try this as a last resort if no other suggestions work.

You could have done a factory reset and it would have taken less time than youve wasted on it already.

It really isnt that bad to do. You can redo a schedule listing in 2 mins.

How is Barry's post wrong?

He says 1.00.02, Loader 7.52, No loop Thru, works OK.

What Loader have you got?

Rgds.

maybe that's what barry meant... after all you HAVE TO remove the loop thru to swap the cables over...

There is obviously a problem with getting the OTA, even if you have firmware 1.00.02, but have an earlier Loader version than 7.52.

There are 2 options :-

1. A "risky" cable swapping procedure that I was hesitant to recommend, but here is a link to the procedure. Usual Disclaimers if you fry your box/LNBs by swapping cables with the box on, with DC going up the cables.

2. Contact Humax Support.

Personally, I'd take option 2. so Humax can understand how widespread this issue is.

Rgds.

I'm not Barry, but I think what he stated in his post is simply how he has his set up, Single Cable with No Loop Thru.

I doubt that Barry, or Humax, would recommend swapping cables with the box switched on.

You can't.

I suggest you contact Humax Support.

Fitting a temporary A-B lnb switch first should be safe enough, simply route the lnb to tuner 1 first and then switch it tuner 2 when required

Yes, I have 7.51 boot loader with V1.0.2 software and loop thru cable.

I have successfully updated to V1.0.3 now.To get it to work I had to remove the loop thru cable and move the satellite feed from tuner 1 to tuner 2 (after the update was detected but before I clicked yes to begin the download)

As I did not do a factory reset, my recording schedule was preserved.

So my current setup (post update) is now 7.51 boot loader with V1.0.3 software and loop thru cable.

I am interested to see if the V1.0.4 update will work without having to move cables. I suspect it won't work without manual intervention as it seems to me that it is the bootloader that downloads the update and the 7.51 bootloader does not work with a one cable setup (with or without a loop thru cable).

Thanks to all for the help.

No you didn't

You asked how you could update the loader (loaded in your post). I replied you can't (easily), you have to contact Humax Support.

You updated the firmware, not the Loader.

Rgds.
