Give em time and I'm sure they will assist you.

This failure to OTA update problem only effects a minority of people with 7.51 (or older) bootloader and a single cable setup.

Now that they know it's an issue and as more people contact them for support, I'm sure it will get a higher priority. For now they are no doubt busy with the V1.0.3 update. That's what most people are anxious to get asap as it has bug fixes.

If anyone from Humax is listening... I am more that happy with the Foxsat PVR, besides a few minor bugs/annoyances, mine have given sterling service and I would certainly recommend it.

I had a call from Tec support just after 9am this morning e-mail was taken and loaded 7.52 was going to be e-mailed to me

However when mail came it was to say that because of previous issues with a HDR release further testing is needed first but will be sent when it’s ready

Im in no rush as I put the new software on by the unsafe cable swapping trick but don’t want to have to do that if updates start coming in like vista ones do LOL

My faith in Humax has been restored a little by the helpful guy

Your'e right though it's good fun

I have power saving enabled, and my standby clock has always been centred too. (v02 & v03)
I even have some photos from last year somewhere...

After seeing this post today - I checked to see if my box had updated automatically and it had so 7.52 and V1.0.3 - doesn't seem to be much different at first glance or two.

BUT strangely around the time it might have updated my box froze for the first time in many weeks - could it be related?

I switched on to watch one prog, while another was already recording for later viewing with the other half. The box came on to the channel it had been on at switch off, but would do no more - no remote inputs, no front button inputs

I reset by switching power off at the back and on again a little while later. I knew I would lose the recording in progress, but we lived with that.

Perhaps it will be OK now??????!!!!!!!

I sent an email to Humax support yesterday regarding Loader versions and had this reply today:
The loader version is slightly different when updating through the computer.
Whether updating over the air or by computer, the software will be exactly the same.

Yes I know Humax only supply an OTA download and you can not down load the upgrades from their WEB site.

Notes from Humax WEB site regarding v1.00.03
Additional Function and Fixed Problem
- Includes Improved Over The Air (OTA) download support.
- Allows future Foxsat-HD and Foxsat-HDR OTA downloads to be broadcast simultaneously.

Does the first item provide download for the HDR with single cable? If it does what about those people that can not upgrade OTA and are still on 01 or 02 and can not upgrade to 03?

Bob_Cat could you please advise as there must be a lot of users who do not access forums like this and are not aware of the problem.

If not already asked when Humax actually bring out some firmware that actually makes any changes (october, nov or dec), what happens to any box that was still on .01 or .02 e.g. still in a shop somewhere.

Will it upgrade okay or will the upgrade kill it?

To clarify: We have identified and resolved the issue with the previous download that was originally made available (and quickly removed). Now our biggest challenge is to guide people through the upgrade process who have 7.21 and only a single feed.

Side note: It is not safe to upgrade the boot-loader using an OTA download from the satellite because of potential glitches in the reception.

Thanks Bob
Maybe if you got time Bob you can start a thread with instructions here when 7.52 is up and where we can all moan about it if there are problems and hopefully help each other

Just to keep up to date, I thought I'd look at the Humax website.
punched in Humax.co.uk.

& got:-

Welcome to the online home of Humax, specialists in compost and growing media.

Seems its all about mushroom culture.

Now back in the middle ages, when I worked, the definition of "Mushroom Management" was

Keep them in the dark & pile on the ordure!

Perhaps I got the wrong site.

Thanks for your reply which has clarified the situation regarding the loaders.

Since installing 1.00.03 I have had my series linked programmes failing to move on to the next episode. I've now deleted them all and set them up again. Is this expected behaviour after a firmware update?

It does it sometimes if you check the epg right after its finished recording, it should update ok.

I did have one show that was left there because the next show wasnt on the same series id for some reason so I had to delete the old one and start the series link again.

'Coast' was definitely one of them (I see GaseousClay had trouble with this one as well), but I can't remember the second one. I've not had any more problems since setting up the schedule again.

I bought the FOXSAT HDR 2 weeks ago and it has version 1.00.03 and shows it as being updated February 2009.

I presume this was done at manufacture??

Bob, any news on U7.52? I received the recent ota update ok, but notice my uploader is still at version 7.51 (bought my HDR in Nov 2008). I've checked the Humax website download centre and the download isn't yet available.

Blotch,

I believe the CS manager is working on getting the logistics sorted because we need to manage the risks in doing an update of the bootloader.

Bob does 7.52 merely solve the problem of firmware updates on one cable or there are other advantages ?

Hi Graham,

Correct, it is purely a single cable update fix.

The U7.52 Loader is to go on our website in the next week or so. If any user requires it then they can update via USB, however there are issues with certain USB pens when carrying out the update (i.e they dont work).
As stated previously the Loader version will only resolve issues when trying to carry out an OTA update with 1 cable, no other changes included.

We will not be broadcasting the Loader OTA.

Thanks
