Humax have already stated that the hdr is 100% compliant with the hdmi specs. Some displays although not 100% compliant will work fine with some equipment and not others. Your best plan is to contact Sony and ask about a firmware upgrade. There are no problems with my W series sony
They can state what they want but its an issue on lots of different TVs including JVC, Eversham, Toshiba and Sony check the Humax forum:

That link proves that the bitrate is lower but doesn't exactly answer the original question! What's behind the drop in the bitrate - what's the story?
Push by OFCOM to reduce bitrate to enable more services in the available spectrum, partially on the basis that newer coders produce the same results with less bandwidth.

BBC HD changed new coders - hence the reduction.

If you google a bit, you'll find plenty of heated debate.

The debate even made it onto BBC1 a few days ago.

loopie,

Where an issue has been identified we have made efforts to contact the TV manufacturer concerned. To date we have communicated with several and given them samples of our product for their analysis. To date we have not been informed of any problem that is in our domain and the only issues have so far been with the display end.

If the problem is with a Sony then I recommend you contact them because they do have our product in their lab and we have worked with them on issues with some models.

Nonsense Ofcom have no say over satellite bandwidth allocation.

I was hoping for a fix within the new firmware (when ready) but this is not looking like its going to happen if you are shifting blame, but strange its only the HDR out of several hdmi products causing issues, might be better for Humax to speak to Sony, Bush and Panasonic about how their hardware works fine via HDMI but the HDR has issues. I'll speak to Sony but as it's only happening using the HDR I would imagine they will tell me to speak to Humax. Happy with the HDR in all other ways but this green screen issue.

So you reckon Ofcom's meddling has no cross-platform effect?

Agreed - I've loads of 'playing around' since mine stopped working after the last software update around February and still have the problem.
I've found that if I disable the handshake on the Humax menu, then select the HDMI inut on the Sony, then I can view the SD channels ok - until I go to the HD channel, then I'm straight back with the green screen. Then, of course, I have to go back to the scart.
If the HDCP is enabled, I can't seem to use the HDMI input at all.

What the BBC have done with the satellite bitrate is a stupid decision made out of their own choice- they own the currently unused 6Mbps bandwidth and could easily put the bitrate up as nothing is using it.
