I really am not sure if I like this character.

I can't work out if it is the character or the person. He feels a little bit of a wooden actor to me.

His attitude towards others, especially women is pretty rude to say the least and even though other Inspectors or top boys have been ruthless in the past there isn't much I find 'warming' about him like say Don Beech and Burnside from the past.

Wonder how long he will last?

A lot of people felt like that when Alan Shearer first appeared in The Bil but many are warming to him, personally I would say I didn't like him that much but am liking him more although still a little wary.

As for how long he will last I think that up to PM so anything could happen - I am waiting for it to be revealed he is in fact a Beech/Burnside hybrid who has taken on an androids head and infected the whole of the station with some sort of deadly disease.....highly likely I reckon

He definitely has a 'dark side' and there HAS to be some kind of story about to come out!

We do need to find out why he is such a cold fish before we can get the measure of him. Personally I think he was right to be firm with the women detectives taking time off for their kids at short notice. And Eva Sharpe should have gotten the MIT guy to OK it with Shearer before going off on the murder case. And he should have known to ask her DI. Chain of command is very important. Without it you get maverick detectives like Don Beech working to suit themselves.

I agree the chain of command is very important. Time he put a stop to all the people diobeying orders. He took Nixon down a peg or two and its time the others got their wings clipped. Good old Manson an old style peeler/polisman

I dont think he was fair on Eva or Debbie - they had both officially booked time off to look after their kids and they got a mouthfull off their boss for doing it.

If I had taken a holiday from work to do something and got a mouthful off my boss I wouldn't think it fair !

I think he was just p***ed off with the fact that the two of them were looking off at the same time. He is the boss so he should have known what was happening. What really annoyed him was the fact that Eva and Debbie went ahead and carried out their own agenda. He really is the old school peeler. Has no time for women. My wife says it reminded he of a boss of hers

I reckon Jack Meadows is a bit too touchy feely with his staff. He was also actively encouraging Eva to grass up her boss, because Jack has his own agenda too. People like Manson (bullies) rely on exerting pressure on people in private and being nice too them in public. Kids do this in school too. I tell my kids that they should always always grass on bullies, if they can handle it themselves. That way they are exposed.

What exactly am I saying here? Eva should stand firm, remember who's boss, make it open knowledge what he says to her in private, but not covertly tell tales to his boss.
