Hi, I was just looking on a US site for a new phone/pda that uses the G3 network to access the Internet and various other services. It's a phone with Microsoft Windows CE, it has built in Word, Excel, MSN Messenger, Mp3 player etc. I want to know when something like this will be available over here?

You can view this phone by clicking the link below.

The Siemens SX1 runs SymbianOS 6.1, the same as the Nokia 7650, 3650, 6600 and 3660.

The closest to that phone available right now is the o2 XDA/XDA II, which runs Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition.

The Sendo X also runs Symbian OS 6.1 using Series 60 (the Nokia UI) and the Sony Ericcsson P800 & P900 run Symbian OS 7.0 with UIQ (the same UI as the Motorola 3G Symbian phone).

You wanna stay clear of windows mobiles as far as you can; Symbian was designed from the ground-up as a mobile operating system, hence extra attention is paid to conserving battery power, memory usage and processor time.

The mobile versions of windows are scaled-down versions of their full operating systems meaning they are resource hungry (and crash like mad).

Incidentally none of the handsets Luke567 mentioned are 3G.

I know they are not 3g. I was simply listing high end 2.5g phones.

And whatever you say... the windows operating systems are great.

I am not sure if mike_65 really wants a 'G3' phone as he put it.
