I see several posts lately where the title refers specifically to Bob-cat, but not a single reply from him in any of them.

Do you think he may have, like the human bomb, gone off on holiday.

Clever at "download update" time

I take it you don't think Bob should go on holiday? That his job is to keep you updated on this forum?

How can you comment like this in your first post?

How long have you waited for Humax to answer e-mails like some of us. In fact I've e-mailed them twice and never had an answer

Did you call them or email - my experience is that service on email is poor but actual support line was very good indeed.

I phoned head office who couldn't put me throw but said they would get support to ring me back

Quite frankly, if I was Bob_Cat and Humax, I would not bother to post on forums. Considering all the adverse comments posted.

I do not see it as part of there duty to answer questions and criticisms on a public forum.

Personally I found there telephone support excellent.

As all he tends to get is abuse and demands here, I'm not surprised.

I imagine he regrets ever trying to help people on these forums.

I think that's a bit harsh. All in all I would have said that most posts, even those critical of Humax, were supportive of BobCat. By posting on a public forum he was always going to get a mixed bag of replies - comes with the territory.
Anyways, its up to the attic for me, this weekend, to turn my Humax back on. I wouldn't want to miss the OTA download, particularly as it may be required for the "real", follow on, update.

I agree, he sometimes gets labelled as public enemy number one by some on here. If he wants to reply, he will, but remember his comments reflect the opinion of Humax so he may at times need to have responses approved etc.

He seems like a nice guy but gets flack for the poor after sales service by humax. Its a bit like a customer having a go at the sales guy for his TV breaking down. Its not his fault but he should do the best to sort it out.

Quite frankly, I'm sure you are right and Humax must much prefer the positive posts on a public forum like this - in which everyone is entitled to an opinion - however fan boi some opinions might seem to others who have had negative experiences. It's good to have balance I say..

... I do think bob_cat is a good customer representative for Humax....and also agree that he seems very genuine. He certainly doesn't get that much stick though. The company might be getting some at the moment, but bob_cat no.. please post more bob_cat..

A hint of sarcasm in your post No I am not saying just post positive posts. I did not put it clearly. Its all the continual moaning about the upgrade(For example) is completely unproductive and must really get to Humax. It will come when its ready.

Also people will take whatever Bob_Cat says as gospel, so he has to be so careful about what he says. This thread started off having a dig at him. That is no good at all.
As Nigel Goodwin said.

I have been on holiday but also I haven't felt the need to reply lately because the conclusions and responses people have given to the questions asked at me have been, in the main, correct. And in respect of the other threads about updates, they are also mostly correct in terms of the facts.

For the most part if I respond I am just repeating myself so I haven't seen the need to respond. Once I have something new to say I will let people know.

i read on the joinfreesat site some comments by bob h. It was about the foxsat HD

"@Bob,

There is a software update this year, not soon but it is due. This will update the box in only one major area: iPlayer but it will also provide improvements to the core software (no other new features).

Bob"

is this you bobcat? and does this mean that there wont be an update to stream programmes off the hdr over the network to the foxsat? I realise this has never been confirmed and was just talked about on here.VBut would just be intrested to know.

many thanks for all your help and info.

Does sound like hoped for FTP isn't in the update. Note that bob did confirm before that streaming the other way, from pc to hdr , would in theory be enabled as streaming is generic not tied to iplayer.

With respect to other posts about poor support, I disagree great first cut software and they replaced my first dud box in days, appreciate a few have bad experience but most are happy.

Sure Bob can reply for himself, but yes, Bob does contribute with comments when needed to joinfreesat

I can confirm we haven't been able to add any specific software that provides streaming between the boxes or from PCs. A great deal of feasibility was done on it but the limited support available in the reference libraries wasn't helpful. We even did some proof of concept work, but it suffered from performance issues and wasn't up to scratch.

The theory I commented on was the fact that it isn't impossible for someone to write an MHEG application to do streaming from a local network and that I had modelled that concept. We are however not currently planning on writing that application ourselves and I just look with interest on anyone who decides to do that (and I know some people have talked about similar ideas).

This is why I haven't been to explicit as to our ambitions for the product because, in the end, once we sat down and did the work we found some of our ambitions were not achievable.

It would be my dream solution if you got together with Team XBMC, as they have a linux version now. I only run XBMC on my XBox but it's not got the oomph for hi def, only everything else.

How can you comment like this in your first post?

How long have you waited for Humax to answer e-mails like some of us. In fact I've e-mailed them twice and never had an answer
Well, for what it's worth, I had an old login ID on my previous ISP's e-mail address and because I couldn't remember the username I started again. Though it is fair to say I wasn't a prolific poster. I own a Humax PVR9200 and have been considering Freesat which explains why I lurk this forum.

I'm lucky as I've never had occasion to contact Humax support so have never had the opportunity to experience poor customer service - I did experience the frustration of waiting for the OAD for Freeview+ for my box last year and there were similair frustrations expressed on the forum at that time.

My point in posting, which clearly needs expanding was along the lines of..... 'Bob_Cat is an employee of Humax who obviously reads the posts on this board and who has tried to help members over the years with advice and updates wheresoever possible. No doubt he has also used the opportunity to feed information back to the Humax organisation. He isn't obliged to post here as this forum is not Humax controlled. No matter how frustrated, discombobulated or peeved you are, there is no call for sarcastic comments about Bob's holiday and snipes about being clever at update time'.

Just ask yourself if one of your work colleagues made a similair off-hand remark aimed at you but broadcast for all to see. I'm quite sure it wouldn't have a motivating effect on you!

Anyway, Bob seems quite well able to defend his corner and as my post count is only up to 2 it's time to go

You may also be interested to hear that I have on the odd occasion been remonstrated for depth of my postings on DS...

Although I was glad to hear that BBCi started posting on here because of me. I also know that many others lurk here, you are all being watched!

Yes I do, in the attic.

I wonder if Single Cable Distribution (SCD) installations, will be officially supported from the next release. (If it was, it would make it very easy to move my receiver to the sitting room, while still running Sky in parallel)
