My parents have a problem with the (Panasonic lxd70) TV tuning when the TV Aerial is connected to the Sony RDR 970 then to the TV (normal set up). However the problem does not occur when the TV is connected directly to the TV Aerial.

For example - With the TV connected via Sony RDR-HX 970the TV Channel 4 is often lost and Channel 4 Wales appears as Channel 8. Also ITV comes as welsh ITV with some other Freeview Channels (e.g. 31) often missing. They live near to Bristol.

Any one have any ideas on what might be causing this?

Many Thanks,

Martin

Wow - thanks for the quick reply!

Will give this a go when next at my parents (maybe next weekend or the one after) and will let you know how it goes.

Cheers!

The TV is connected to the digital coax output of the Sony RDR 970 but I can't find out how to change the rf output channel as the above post suggests.

Anyone know how to change the digital RF output channel of the Sony RDR 970 ?

Thanks

Does it even have an RF modulator?, it's really pretty uncommon on such units.

If you switch the 970 off (on the front) does your TV then work OK?, because any potential modulator is then turned off.

You may need an attenuator in the aerial lead, the extra gain throught he 970 may be overloading your TV?.

Thanks Nigel for the very quick reply.

Next time I'm at my parents (who are having this problem) I will ask them (or check myself) if their problem occurs when the 970 is turned off at the front (but is still powered by the mains).

There is no option to change the RF output channel because it doesn't generate one as far as I can see.

If you read the manual it states that the recorder cannot be connected to a TV lacking either a SCART or other form of video input. Nowhere in the manual does it mention anything about an RF output. Which leads to the inevitable conclusion that it doesn't have one.
