We have been having a bit of a debate about instant coffee at work and the best way to make it and after finding out one of the guys does it differently to everyong else we wanted to find out what was the norm, can you help

So, how do you make your instant coffee? Do you use boiling water, milk first, sugar first?

I mix a spoonful of coffee with a fair bit of skimmed milk in the cup, then add boiling water...I dont take sugar and don't like it too strong.

Boiling water burns the coffee so you should always put the milk in first IMO, preferably the full fat blue top stuff or even better cream. mmmmm

Coffee first, then sugar, then boiling water and then a dash of milk, preferably skimmed.

Sugar is for coffee newbs.I just dump about 3 teaspoons of coffee in then add the water (boiling) then a small amount of milk.

I don't touch instant coffee. It doesn't resemble any coffee I know.Freshly ground beans is the way to go.

I use all milk, if I have milk and water in my coffee, then it seperates, the secret is not to mix it, just to have it on it's own

I'm the same - I'd rather have a glass of water than instant coffee. I make either a pot of filter or a cafetiere, which I drink black .

Two teaspoons of coffee, 3/4 full of boiling water, 1/4 full of cold water. No milk, no sugar. Most people make it far too weak for my tastes!

Anything more creamy tastes like its gone off to me..I think I just don't like the taste of milk very much, but black coffee is too bitter for me to drink

Put finely ground coffee in a big mug, add hot water and stir vigorously. Add a touch of cold water and wait a few minutes for the grounds to settle. It works, no fuss.

Rarely drink instant, but if I do it's black. I put a bit of cold water in first, and make sure the water isnt boiling, else it burns the coffee and tastes rank.

I like it strong too - 4 spoons of coffee, ¾ full of hot water and the rest with milk, plus one sugar/sweetener. Delish.

2 spoons of Alta Rica, 2 spoons of CoffeeMate. Perfect.

One tsp coffee, 1/2 tsp sugar - tiny drop of milk so the granules don't burn, then 2/3 boiling water, then topped up with 1/3 milk. Weak and sweet mmm.
