Crackers!
4444
27-08-2009
Is anyone like me and just loves the taste of cream crackers? Nine times out of ten I don't put anything on them, just love the dry taste. Eating my way through a packet right now, in fact.

And just think all you health fans - so much less fat than crisps. Let's hear it for the crackers!

I seem to remember that it's impossible to eat 3 in a minute without water to help...

I like them but wouldn't eat them dry. Wee bit of Boursin makes them delicious.

How many would be bad for you? Or is just one cracker likely to kill you?

It's not so much the cracker that I love it's the great big chunk of extra mature cheddar that I put on it

I think Chuck means that they are not great for us because they aren't particularly nutritious. I can't see that they're 'bad' for us unless Chuck knows they are carcinogenic or something.

What does the term "cracker" mean when aplied to people. I've only heard it on American programmes. Anyone know?

It's a racist term generally used by black people about white people (the equivalent of n*gger).

I read the name came from slave-drivers who would crack the whip. Probably wrong though.

Never heard that one before. I thought it meant your brain was cracked.

Try them with some Roses lime marmalade. Sounds vile, I know, but really are delish! Couldn't eat enough of them when I was a student...

They're like eating sugar in terms of their effect on your blood sugar levels. Plus they contain very little of actual nutriotional value.

Not much worse than white bread really. They contribute energy and provide a substrate for potentially more nutritious foods, although if you go too heavy on the cheese you've got a fat delivery mechanism rather than a healthy snack.

I like really thin wholewheat crackers and eat them most days - sometimes a packet with some raw veg instead of dinner - they are addictive!!
