The Bill

Sorry if this is the wrong board in which to post, but I missed the last 15 minutes of last week's The Bill (20.08.09)

I can't find The Bill on ITVPlayer and when I googled last week's episode I got a couple of links to "torrent" websites.

What's "torrent"?

I just want to watch the last 15 minutes of last week's episode. Is there any way I can do this?

The Bill isn't on ITVPlayer due to, presumably, ITV not buying the full distribution rights from the producers. You could ask in the TV programmes section for someone to send you a DVD of the prog, if anyone's recorded it.

"Torrents" are a way of acquiring TV shows and movies and music and games by "less than legal" means. The mods don't like anyone to give out information on how it's done, because of the legality issue. You wouldn't be doing anything illegal by downloading the show, but part of the process means that, whilst downloading, you are simultaneously uploading as well and that's where it gets dodgy.

Thanks, Kenny.

What would I be uploading?

What happens is that various people provide the programme/game/movie in small "chunks". Let's say there are 100 chunks making up the entire show. You download the first 10, then while you're downloading the next 10, the first 10 are being uploaded to anybody else that is also downloading the show at the same time as you. The software you install handles all this automatically.

Once you've completed the download, if you leave the software running, then anyone else that wants to download the show will see you as a "source" for it and you'll be uploading some more!

OK, I've sort of got you...I think.

Cheers

whilst The Bill is not on the ITV Player, it is on the Australian Broadcasting Company's iView, it does not help you, I just find it interesting.
