When, oh when is the upgrade coming?

Anyone any idea? I know that it was floated the end of Summer, that time is rapidly approaching now.

My query is that I would like to know if that date still holds or is it possible that Humax are thinking end of Autumn now?

Just curious

That is what I was fearing. It also makes me wonder if the new second generation Freesat will be released at more or less the same time? A relaunch of the Freesat PVR effectively!

This time delay is totally ridiculous now. I am not at all interested in iplayer. Why on earth don't we get the bug fix now? Block the iplayer functionality if necessary. If Humax think it is not viable as an over the air upgrade then what about offering it as a download on the Humax website??

End of rant.

They were too cheap to put out the bug fixes months ago and the iplayer when needed.

There was speculation over a week ago as to when the 'will there be an upgrade in Sept' thread would start - obviously you couldn't wait

I just emailed to see if I could join the trial and they said they were full. I only heard about it on here.

Where did everyone who managed to get on it here about it? The rep at work didn't say anything??

Notice there is no Month mentioned in this threads title. It will cover many months into the future. Clever that.

I don't see what the problem is. For MOST on this forum, the box works. There may be a few features that are not ideal (For me the inability to delete whilst recording)

Humax will release the update when its ready. I doubt if these threads will make any difference.

Yes, so very cunningly clever, shame I didn't think about that until you did!

The box does work for me too mostly, but I started the thread after messing around yet again with the pathetic delete and file management functionality - and was venting, perhaps I should have counted to a 1000 and left it alone.

I try to not get into this as it just gets me annoyed but again I've had a lockup when trying to resume the box when it is recording something. I am looking forward to iPlayer in whatever form being built-in, but sadly the only reason is to catch up with the programmes the box has failed to record because of a host of Humax and EPG related issues.

I don't care about the upgrades as long as my box works without freezing/locking up.
Humax replaced my defective one with a new (not reconditioned) one which has been OK so far (6 weeks) but as it took a few months for the fault to show up last time I am perhaps still in honeymoon period

As I have said elsewhere, the other things that I see people complain about really seem quite trivial by comparison and I for one can live with them.

So I have to wait until the box has stopped recording before I can delete anything ................ does it REALLY matter ?

I bet most who get on the trial firmware for the HDR will be more interesed if they have fixed the issues with the standard box features let alone introducing new issues for the majority of user who already have access to the iplayer application.

I myself have never watched a single program via iplayer.

It may not matter to you.

It doesn't matter to me.

But it does matter to some and they are entitled to say so.

That is it, just minor issues for most which I would have thought could have easily been fixed back in March or earlier of this year.

I wasn't for a moment suggesting that no-one was entitled to say so .......... just that so many of the niggles seem to be just that ........ niggles.

When I last spoke to Humax support, the person whom I had been dealing with told me that if they didn't have to spend so much time dealing with the "minor" problems or with people who hadn't read the manual they would have more time to deal with the other stuff

I am not giving my opinion here, simply repeating what was said to me.

If Humax had put more effort into their manual they could avoided lots of these interuptions.

Well, there are other things to address, but yes, it does.

When your box is recording constantly for many hours (as mine does at times - I generally record and watch the recording than live for anything I want to see, even if it's just a minute or two time delay), then you might need to delete some of the things as you watch them to free space.

At the very least, you've got the issue of remembering which things you want to delete (which is more complicated than it needs to be, due to the forced use of folders for series links).

Personally, I wouldn't mind if you could simply mark a file for deletion whilst another recording is taking place, with the box actually deleting it when the scheduled recording(s) have finished. But there should be something more user friendly than the current implementation.

Exactly, for example the touring car program is on for 6 hours, Im usually watching other stuff and want to delete it as Ive finished them.

The strange thing is it used to be possible with old firmware.

Thats exactly what I do. Record the 6 or 7 hours of BTCC so I can just watch the BTCC races in full Sunday night. It's a right pain having to remember what other stuff you have watched whilst the HDR is recording.

Not that strange - obviously they discovered a more serious problem that could occur if you did delete whilst recording. I would rather not have the facility, than have it corrupt the contents of the drive.

So as a short term fix, fair enough. But it ought to be fixed properly, or at least be able to flag for later deletion.

I think it used to affect the quality of the recording, sometimes when you are recording one program and another starts up, you can see some glitches at that part when watching the 1st program.

The people who are answering the phones are the ones fixing the problems?

If I want to delete something when the box is recording, instead I rename it (say to "D" ) - this has the effect of moving it out of the folder to within the single recordings list. I end up with watched recordings grouped all in one place for later deletion. Works for me (till hopefully they fix it)

I'm still waiting for them to fix my 9200T. It might only be DTT but I bought it because it claimed to offer Series Link. There was no mention of us needing to keep a pen and paper backup of the timers

Perhaps if Humax could look after their existing customers some of them might decide to buy their Freesat PVR. The current situation as described on this forum just offers proof to me that it's another company to avoid.

That's sad because they clearly employ competent technical people who care about the product. I guess management/marketing just have too much input. Same ol', same ol'
