Anyone else think Dizzee Rascal has no talent?
i know some of his songs are catchy and everything but he doesn't sing or even rap properly, its just like he's talking and anyone on the street could 'sing' his songs.
anyone agree? |

I used to think he was useless, but his recent material has seen me really warm to him. It also helps that in interviews he always comes across as a genuinley nice and funny guy.

Dizzee Rascal recent tracks aren't hip-hop though, they're dance/club anthems.

The trouble with Dizzee Rascal is that he's a pile of shit (evidenced by his ridiculous spelling of his own name). Here's genuine 'urban' UK top 40 talent, from before he and his ilk were born and started meddling:

anyone agree? Its very difficult to do what he does and do it well. You may not like the style but its not easy to do. |

No way. I think he's the best UK rapper ever. His raps are very good and delivered very good.

I've said it once and i'll say it again UK Rap SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have loads of young UK artists making things happen for themselves right now. Giggs, Chipmunk, Sway, Wretch 32, Bashy etc. The list goes on and on. UK music as a whole is buzzing right now. |

Dizzee has been around forever and has only just finally hit the big time. Nothing to do with his talent, he is a talented rapper but lets be honest he doesnt use that skill anymore, he has gone commercial and who can blame him!
He used his brain and realised that he needed to make commercial hits and veer away from his darker music that hadnt really set the UK music scene alight in the previous years no matter how hard he tried so he worked alongside Calvin, reinvented himself and is now the biggest UK act around. Every tune he releases hits number 1 on I Tunes within hours of becoming avaliable and he is huge. He has just turned his business brain on and is now raking it in. |

His music definatly did set the music scene alight, hence the reason why he won a Mecury Award. You seem to think that commercial success in the charts is the only kind of success. He also isn't the biggest UK act around. |

I don't know anything about him, but I'm fairly certain he writes lyrics to all his songs, so you can't really say he has "no talent" lol.

I wouldn't hail him as being overly talented. I do think it takes a special skill to be able to rap and write lyrics that fit as a rap but I'm not a huge fan of his lyrics. Granted though he has some very catch tunes.

To be fair I don't really listen to the kind of music Dizzee makes so I don't think I can say whether he is talented or not. I don't like the way he sings/raps/MCs whatever on his tracks infact I find it amusing because he sounds like a numpty.
