That's fine, as long as you have it in writing, it's just that a representative of Richer posted here to point out the money back isn't on all products. But i can't remember which speciifc products were covered.

It's a little surprising the silence of Danielle Nagler on this subject isn't it (head of BBC HD). I suspect she was told this bitrate cut wouldn't result in reduced quality because of the brilliant new encoder but I imagine she is now fuming with the techies who made these promises as it quite clearly isn't as good as it was previously, and is inferior to most Sky HD channels. I have a feeling the bitrate they have fixed it at may be the average they expect on Freeview HD, and they are therefore thinking this will make the two platforms equal- wrong! The Freeview HD BBC HD will be able to increase bitrate as necessary, so if the Sky/Freesat BBC HD is not going to be stat muxed, it needs to be fixed at the maximum level of the Freeview rate, otherwise the Freeview HD BBC HD will be noticeably better quality.

If my experience with other cashback schemes is any guide you will only have a short period at the end of the five years to make a claim.
It is also likely that you will have to provide documentary evidence of the original purchase of the goods and the warranty, so the small print does have to be read with care.

The only really good HD I have seen on Freesat(well not really Freesat) is LUX HD their HD puts the BBC & ITV to shame. Just a pity it sort of adverts. Pretty good adverts though.

The advantage of Luxe is that it's already compressed, and not in real time (like a BluRay) - so it's higher quality than the normal broiadcasters who compress in real time as it's transmitted.

I certainly hope it's a good time to say 'bye' to Sky and move to Freesat+.

I have had a Sky+ box for some time but with only a single LNB I couldn't easily and reliably use the recording functions. Time to upgrade my LNB I thought.

Booked the LNB upgrade a couple of days ago with a local guy and it's all set for Sep 15. But, getting back home I read up on Sky's Sky+ system and learned that I had to continue with some sort of subscription to enable me to use the record function anyway. And there I was planning to cancel my £20 a month subscription because we dont watch enough of the paid-for channels to make it worthwhile.

How can we record for free then? "Say goodbye to Sky*" of course. That's the upside. Downside is the £249 for a Humax FOXSAT-HDR (as there is no standard def Sat PVR?). but I ordered one from John Lewis.

I phoned Sky to cancel my account - which took about 20 minutes with me, of course , paying for the call. Thank you Sky.

The spec of the FOXSAT looks good though and plenty of people praise its picture quality - the MOST important thing.

For the forseeable future we will run it onto our Panny PW6 via SCART / RGB. The optical SPDIF will feed into my X-DACv3. Wonderful. The HD capability will be redundant but I don't mind that. We'll have to change the Panny one day (and I fancy a projection system).

At last I will be able to record the stuff I'm not normally allowed to watch because of clashes with 'Stenders and Corrie.

My Humax arrived yesterday, Friday. I ordered it Wednesday afternoon. Well done John Lewis.. you know you can return it for whatever reason within a month - and THEY pay the return postage. Good service as usual from JL. Tomorrow I'll try the new box out.
