anyone remember smash! when it first started up?.. (later on it merged with ... wham! i think, and the valiant, but i might be wrong.

think it started in late 65, and featured a range of characters, monsters and mushrooms! i have only vague memories of it but i thought it was great...

It started on 5 February 1966. It did indeed merge with Valiant, on 3 April 1971.

Pow merged with Wham, Fantastic merged with Terrific, and both Pow and Fantastic then merged with Smash.

Smash and the other 'Power Comics' are best remembered for being a lot of people's first exposure to the Marvel comics characters, but Smash actually went one better than the rest-Smash #38 featured the first ever British originated strip to feature a Marvel character, the Hulk, more than ten years before Dave Gibbons drew the jade giant in Marvel UK's Hulk Comic.

Wrong, Valiant merged with Battle Picture Weekly.

Weren't they just reprinting Marvel strips in black and white?

I think I stopped reading it by the time they all ended up as Valiant.

I have found a good site that shows which titles merged with whom, the link shows the Power comics and where the original Eagle eventually ended up - it merged into the Eagle comic!
