http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXrmQ5IMkFA&NR=1 Beautiful song. Whatever it sounds like I'm sure Ruth would do a fantastic rendition though. ![]() I'd love her to do a Thin Lizzy song at one of her gigs sometime. I've got loads of songs I'd love to hear her cover actually but so far managed to stop myself from bombarding her with song requests on twitter haha ![]() Quote:

![]() ![]() Ruth sings anything well. It would show off her voice, but it's not really her style. She could rock it up though... ![]() And I see lots of guitars there!

Excellent article here from an interview taken just before her concert in Murcia: http://www.coastrider.net/main/news-...uth-rocks.html Gonna quote it because it's worth it. Quote:
Ruth Rocks!
X-Factor finalist Ruth Lorenzo played a sell out concert in her native Murcia this weekend. Before she rocked the stage with her amazing vocals, she met the CoastRider’s rather starstruck Alan Hall for a chat. “Meeting Ruth was fantastic as she is exactly the same person you see on the television, warm and friendly and easy to talk to. Despite being a little starsruck (as I have been a huge fan of Ruth since she first appeared on the X Factor) I just about managed to ask some sensible questions. “When Ruth went on the X Factor she always knew that she was on her own, in the sense that she had never been to school in the UK or college, she has no home town there like the other contestants to support them with votes from friends family etc, however she was happy with that even though it had a bearing on the votes she received. She also revealed that she is so pleased, amazed and shocked that the Bristish Public, without knowing her and for no reason she can explain, kept her in the competition. Ruth, in her own words said that that the support from the British Public is worth so much to her. “She told the CoastRider that she also finds it amazing that people remember her more as the girl who sang Purple Rain than the Spanish Girl from the X Factor finals. “Since winning the X Factor Ruth has coped well with her new found fame and told the CoastRider that having her family around her has helped, she cannot go out in London now without people coming up to her and talking to her, she is mobbed from the moment she leaves the door. Back in Murcia Spanish people are starting recognise her as well. Ruth confided that it’s not even safe for her to go to the beach like she used to, alone, to chill out. “The recent album deal is signed with EMI and the release date is set for March. The CD will consist of Ruth’s own songs which she is writing at present and is the reason for the delays in the album being released. Everyone wanted the album to come out in November but Ruth says it would have only been songs from other writers and she truly believes that she is good when she sings something she believes in. Ruth told us she wants to be the most honest with herself and not sell herself singing a cover version or something written by someone else just to have a number 1 on the radio, she wants people to recognise HER as Ruth and not just her signing someone else’s song. Ruth told the CoastRider that she wants a career that will last - she wants to be like Tina Turner, still rocking at 80, or a long term career like the Rolling Stones. “We asked her if Simon Cowell was disappointed she signed with EMI rather than him. She told us Simon could only sign the winner this year so he could not sign Ruth. She has gone with EMI but she knows that he is happy for her and that she has done well. She still keeps in touch with the friends form the X-Factor, Rachel Hilton came to Spain to see her recently on holiday, Alexandra is working hard on her album due in out next month, JLS come to dinner a lot and raid her fridge, Diana has the keys to her apartment and Ruth is like a big sister to her as she lives round the corner. She recently split up her fiance Juan, so no wedding is on the cards. Ruth is young free and single, however the pair are still good friends and she loves him to bits as his music talent to her is fantastic. Juan was the guitarist in Ruth’s band. Ruth revealed that they both needed space to cope with the changes and distance and things were becoming difficult due to that. They still talk a lot as friends and share musical ideas and so on, so who knows for the future, she still has her ring. She feels that she is happier being single as her career takes up all her time and that’s what she wants to progress. “We asked Ruth how she felt about being back home in Murcia. She told us she is truly deligted. When in Murcia she loves to go out in the City which is where she is from Vistalegre, also La Manga, Cabo de Palas but Murcia is her favourite place to go. “We also chatted about Madrid’s bid for the 2016 Olympics – would Ruth perform at the opening ceremony? She told us she would definitely be there for the opening ceremony of the Olympics – if asked! “Ruth was nominated for an award for “Sexiest Female on a Reality TV Show” – we asked her how she felt about the accolade. She said she was amazed and couldn’t believe it but thanks everyone who made a nomination, possibly even the 5000 nominations made by Simon Cowell!!! The concert itself was fantastic. Ruth was exceptional and all the songs were terrific, she was a real Rock Queen on stage. The concert was in aid of charity for the Polaris Foundation and a presentation was made. |

Her own thing. Part 3 is here. Ruth isn't in it in person but is that her on the cover of a magazine/newspaper at the start?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3et6P-Qvszk&fmt=18 What does it say? 'Sinfin'? I'm trying to google it but no luck so far. http://mas.laopiniondemurcia.es/verano/?p=3788 Quote:
Singer Ruth Lorenzo
Pure energy, a large dose of courage, a spirit of self-improvement and high self-esteem. A potent and ambitious cocktail. When you think of Ruth, her poise or her expression, you know that she has her mind set on bigger things. If it were not so, she would never make it. Therefore, on finishing her British X Factor journey, she said: "This is not the end. This is the beginning of my dream." And so another important Spanish export broke into the world of showbusiness - or into the world - from "la Region" (Murcia) - just like the icon Charo Baeza. Thus she came onto the stage at a trot and like a thoroughbred, gathering speed to a gallop showing that she had voice and desire to spare. The internet did the rest; when she sang 'Purple Rain', by Prince, it had so many downloads that the singer himself telephoned the programme to have the video removed. If they consider reuploading it, it is not advisable, rock is beyond every protocol. "Being a 'rocker' is to face life from a more personal perspective that allows you to do and see things as you want, without falling into conventions," said Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders. Ruth's hands are an adornment in themselves, the accessories are not without meaning, they are those that contribute to a woman's personality, so that we might be told apart. Hidden deep in her bag, "in Plato's cave, that mysterious thing", as Enrique Loewe defined it, we find bracelets, bangles, leather, silver... large, colourful..., bold pieces decorated with metal studs - all which inevitably make her bag bulge. She has decided to dust off the rock aesthetic with costume jewellery that gives the air of a rebel. A woman of arms with an iron fist. Most noticeable is her index finger, the only one to remain outstretched, the one that expresses impulse, aspiration, character, ambition. They say it is the one (finger) with authority, control, the power of command, and the one that highlights the ability to project our image. Black nails, the finishing touch to a modern and defined aesthetic. It is nothing new, rock is no longer revolutionary - this is understood - and "the labels serve only that people might not be confused". So all that remains now is for her to sing, to share that energy, to reach her first release and show what she can do on stage. From that point on, only time will tell. |

R U T H L O R E N Z O
THE SEXY "SENORITA" REALLY ROCKS By: Magi Torras It was one of the few occasions on which we had the opportunity to see live in Spain, Ruth Lorenzo, one of the last contestants on "The X Factor", a music programme with unprecedented success in the UK. She was not the winner. "So what?", said those who were there, who now eagerly await the release of her first album, by multinational EMI. The chosen venue was the Polaris World resort, La Torre in Murcia, a place where Ruth used to sing before reaching stardom in Great Britain. The tickets were sold out days in advance and the public - mostly Britons - could hardly wait to see her. Finally, she came on stage. Veni, vidi, vici [Latin: I came, I saw, I conquered]. In her first interpretation ("Always", by Bon Jovi) she wins the audience over. Ruth wins in the face-off. As much by her beauty as her likeability. Not to mention her voice. There are few who have it. Her repertoire was based on the songs she sang on the English contest (such as "No More Tears" and "Knocking On Heaven's Door") together with some of her favourite songs ever, as she said. She played songs by AC/DC, Bob Dylan, Oasis and Alanis Morissette, where Ruth showed that, without a shadow of a doubt, we have encountered one of the best contemporary female voices that our country has produced. As a surprise, some amazing versions of "Sin ti no soy nada" by Amaral and - a very moving - "Mediterraneo" by Serrat. Ruth had three costume changes and showed that she is more than ready for an audience ten times as big as the 1,500 people who were there in the arena. The only downside is the lack of media coverage there was in our country. But give it time. A talent such as this will not go unnoticed. And to finish, the legendary Purple Rain. The crowd goes wild. Ruth knows that they love it. And we come to understand why Prince decided to remove all videos from YouTube of this Murcian singing his songs. The fact is that - on rare occasion - are there versions that surpass the original. And Ruth has this gift. Rating: 4.5/5 |

Beautiful song.
