Oh god, where to start?? LMAO

Signed with EMI/Virgin. Debut album out around March. English language, rock-oriented, said to be working with the likes of Santana, Steven Tyler and Slash. She discussed a bit about it amongst other things like her time on XF, the XF tour, etc, recently on GMTV here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYPWQTdv3V0&fmt=18

Second Spanish language album that I just mentioned, hopefully also out in 2010.

Touring the UK - some big gigs, some small gigs. Too many to list all of them. Both Belfast and Cardiff Pride, the Ashfield Show in Nottingham (headlined by the Sugababes), gigs with Diana Vickers, JLS, Laura White and others.
Recently played a sold-out charity concert back home in Murcia.
Has started performing non-XF songs at her gigs - Run, Ironic, Highway to Hell. Easy to find on Youtube.

Anything else?

Oh yeah, she's on twitter. Follow her.

Woah Ubik !!! You sure know your stuff when it comes to the Lorenzo Thanks soo much for all that Can't wait for her album !

I was thinking, if Ruth's album does really well and is huge in March (which i could potentially be).

She might sing a song from her spanish album on the next X Factor. Unless she is still promoting the first album and releasing singles from it, in which case she could sing that song.

Just a thought.
OMG that would be amazing !!!!!! I hope she does get to do that ! We have just got to make sure she is a HUGE success (i'm certain she will be though )

just heard ruth sing 'always' and for the first time i didn't go aww cuz it reminded me of her leaving, i went yay cuz i'm thinking of how well things are going for her.
Awwwwwwww that's so sweet ! I get all nostalgic whenever i rewatch any of her performances on XF now.. i remember when that Xtra Factor: Rewind programme was on before this years series started and they showed Purple Rain.. i just literally sat there in complete AWE of her and just relived that night when everyone was like OMG WOW ok Ruth is just amazing and OMG SIMON WHY DID YOU SEND IT TO DEADLOCK Haha.. miss those times !!! But we have a whole lotta Ruth goodness to look forward to

I like that thought!

I'm not sure if she'd still be releasing singles from the first album by then (and more than likely not in time for this year's live shows either) but I never factored the Spanish album into it. Would Cowell invite her back though?

Haha maybe "Ruth Lorenzo" could be my specialist subject on Mastermind. Not that I'd ever be on Mastermind, but yeah...

I think if Ruth becomes VERY succesful, he will.

As they try to invite the biggest stars of the past year.

This year it's rumoured Lady GaGa, Beyonce etc.

So if Ruth does amazingly this year, I don't see why not, and I doubt Ruth would turn it down.

And I know Cowell would want to show off the XF success stories. Even though Ruth's on a "rival" label, it didn't stop Faryl Smith from reappearing on BGT.

Like Takeachancex said, we just have to make sure she's a success. So what's the battleplan?

I'm sure if the song is great (which it will be) and the right promotion is done, she will do fine.

She needs some good TV Appearances (GM:TV etc). Plus Radio support. So we will all need to get requesting her single like mad, I can imagine it now, we're all posting links to places to request it and stuff . Being playlisted on Radio 1 is usually a very big help.

Also her debut music video needs to be great (which again it will be). And we need to request and request for it to be played on TV.

Arrrrrrgh she's going to do so well, I can't wait. !!!

She still have lots of fans (who are not X Factor addicts) of whom when I mention Ruth, they ask about her album and stuff.

Also check out YouTube, she still has lots of casual fans.

Although I noticed Faryl didn't get a standing ovation from Simon like all the other guests. . I thought that was a bit rude/cheeky.

Sounds like fun! I'll be armed and ready with angry emails if my local radio stations don't playlist her right away.

I never usually bother with the radio or the TV music channels but I'll definitely be making an exception for Ruth.

Yeah, I've been having a browse through some of the Youtube comments recently. She's got fans all over the world, it's amazing!

I do wish EMI would hurry up with a proper website or update the old official one though. I know there are still plenty of people that don't even know she's been signed or when the album's out or anything.

I think they should open an Official Website with just a front page at least with a signup thing. That way people can sign up, and if they forget about Ruth by March (how dare they), they'll be signed up and will get emails when she is about to launch herself.

Simillar to what it's like at http://www.dianavickersmusic.com/ !

LOL! How very dare they!

Something like that, like a mailing list, would be great. Not only for around the time of the single/album launch but it could also be used to keep people up to date with the major news and gig dates for example. At the moment it's all down to trawling google.

Another clip of Run form Cardiff Pride
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lar9akaTkg&fmt=18

And a new gig, the one I was talking about a while ago... Turned up somewhere else...

There was another one that came up in twitter search but it's a bit vague in details so I was waiting for their website to go live before posting. Think it may be a student-only thing though.
12th October
O2 Academy, Sheffield

http://www.o2academysheffield.co.uk/...p?showid=10258

Doesn't say anything about students-only, just over 18s.

Moved on from eyeballs then, ya weirdo?

So I'd already read the rumours that Stacey McClean sang Purple Rain at bootcamp, and now cfc's told me earlier that Daniel Pearce also did it.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. For a start it's obvious it would never have been included in the list of songs to choose from had Ruth not sung it.
Part of what made her rendition so special is that it wasn't the kind of song you'd expect to see on the X Factor (I actually recall spontaneously going "wow!" when she announced her choice) and now it's gonna be played (possibly) several times in one episode.

Yeah, I know Purple Rain isn't really "Ruth's and Ruth's alone" but it's almost like they're pissing on the memory of one of the truly special moments of last year's show by letting it be performed to the point of overkill.

Of course it hasn't even been broadcast yet and I could just be having a great big OMGDRAMA over nothing. They could end up only showing one or two of them.

And to put a positive spin on it, it may remind people of Ruth. Perhaps the judges, most likely Dannii, will give her a mention.

Was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were on this?

You're rather violent for a hippie.

It's inevitable, so... prepare yourself?
Quick google search and it looks like even one of the "comedy" rubbish acts that got put through has been let loose on it.

Hell, at least it'll give us something to talk about.

EMI are definitely missing out on an opportunity here! They need to capitalise on all the interest that is still out there!

Well, I'll just take it as a tribute to Ruth, without whom, as you said, the song wouldn't even be on the playlist. And then, when I've heard them sing it say "Craaap!!!". (Not that I'm prejudging or anything. )

No-one will do it like Ruth did it. It's not possible.

I know it sounds really stupid but i can't help but be annoyed when anyone sings Purple Rain now Like you said, although she doesn't technically own that song, i still regard it as HER song, as that was the night when she completely turned things around, and people who hadn't noticed her before now thought.. WOW.. ok this is the one to watch .. and again like you said, it no way would have been on the list of songs had Ruth not sung it.. and it just annoys me as i want everyone to remember RUTH singing it.. not anyone else Purple Rain is such an unusual song choice for something like the XF (i must admit i had never even heard of it before Ruth had sung it).. so i just see it as her song.
I remember on xtra factor i think it was like a couple of weeks ago they showed a quick clip of someone absolutely murdering 'Always' and i just thought NOOOOO DO NOT SING 'ALWAYS'.. THAT'S RUTH'S SONG lol !! I really wish she could get copyright on them all

EMI are definitely missing out on an opportunity here! They need to capitalise on all the interest that is still out there!

Come on EMI!!!
Already seen a couple of tweets to Ruth today asking when her album is out. EMI need to sort something aaaaahhhttt! The only places to find the latest news as far as I know are here and the Ruth forum, and at the moment not enough people know of either.

The idea I had that I mentioned ages ago but said I was waiting to see if EMI did anything...

A "newsfeed" on twitter? Answering people's questions, posting the important stuff that's posted here (news and gig dates, good quality Youtube videos, etc).

Should we try that? Any other suggestions?

I know it sounds really stupid but i can't help but be annoyed when anyone sings Purple Rain now Like you said, although she doesn't technically own that song, i still regard it as HER song, as that was the night when she completely turned things around, and people who hadn't noticed her before now thought.. Yeah, I know what you mean. It's "her song" in the sense that it was her BIG moment. Within those two minutes she'd turned everything around and just look at her now! We always knew she was amazing but yeah, that moment pretty much changed her life.

I remember on xtra factor i think it was like a couple of weeks ago they showed a quick clip of someone absolutely murdering 'Always' and i just thought NOOOOO DO NOT SING 'ALWAYS'.. THAT'S RUTH'S SONG lol !! I really wish she could get copyright on them all
Oh god, they've murdered a few of "Ruth's songs" already - Always, Angels, and last night ILRAR.
Now we'll also be getting a load of 'mediocre but just good enough for bootcamp' fodder doing Purple Rain.
I think Dannii should do something in protest. I dunno, something like what Cowell did during Big Band Week re Ruth's Summertime - "Was it as good as Ruth Lorenzo's version? No." - every single time someone chooses to sing it.

(sorry, had to trim some of the smilies out lol )

i think we should message EMI over and over again asking for a ruth website. they don't have a site for every artist they have but if we show there's a lot of interest, they might do something for a ruth site.

I reckon they'd probably launch a website nearer to when the single/album is released. We could try that though. We've got a strong enough case and it might encourage them to set one up earlier than planned, at least one similar to what Liz suggested - just a front page with the main news and the option to sign up to a mailing list.

So, thoughts on twitter feed meantime?
