“Another X-Factor ex-contestant, Ruth lorenzo is probably one of the more memorable talents from that show in recent years.
Of Spanish origin, she brought her latin roots to many of performances, either granting her songs a real latin flare, and even singing some songs in her mother tongue.
She was attractive, sultry and sex and quickly caught the eye of Simon Cowell - can’t keep it in his flippin trousers.
Her take on the classic “Summertime” was particularly impressive, with her both looking and sounding the part. She’s a versatile sort, perhaps not meant for mainstream success, but someone who could do very well indeed with specialized albums.
The X-Factor was perhaps the best starting point for someone like her. She needs to find herself an audience before she can build a real career for herself and while she’s likely garnered many followers from her X-Factor appearance, international fandom needs to come before she can really sell her voice across the world.
I certainly hope to see more of in the future, I think she could really tackle old classics head on. As mentioned, her rendition of Summertime was particularly good, with her knowing that kind of performance every inch.
Perhaps such music won’t sell in the current era, but there’s always a nostalgic feeling for those kind of tracks so even if her career is kept to online sales and the like, she should do well.

Extremely unlikely but I'd love her to do something like that.
Covering the old jazz/big band standards. Summertime impressed me so much, and I always wanted to hear what her interpretation of Feeling Good would have been like as well (I thought at the time that song choice was between Rachel and Ruth for Big Band night).
However I don't think this sort of direction would be a good one for Ruth. It's a bit too specialised, and too hit and miss. I think and hope the rock direction (which she does best) gives her more of a chance of achieving mainstream success.”
I quite like this article. It's has a different take on things. It picks up on Ruth's versatility which is often overlooked because of her rock credentials. Summertime was something completely different and Wow! did she own it. I don't care what Simon said, I like this version waaaaay better than Leona's.
And that bit at the end with the playful, almost challenging glance at the band... I love it!!! She smashed it, completely ruled the stage and held everyone captive, or held me captive anyway

, throughout. It's a good indication that she would be very good indeed at some of the other big band/jazz standards.
This thing about going down a more specialised route though, what does everyone think?
I think she needs to do what she loves, and that is rock. There's always room for other "something different" tracks on her album, and hopefully we may get some.
We've already heard
Burn with Francis Rodino

, then there's
Summertime, and of course
Silent Night. And what was the name of the opera singer that she mimicked when she was young? Montserrat Caballe? I always meant to look up some of her stuff, but haven't yet. And didn't she sing in musicals at school?
Is there no end to her talents? "Versatile" you say? I think so. "Specialised albums"- I dunno.........
Maybe later???
