Again depends on what you are looking for.
Personally, i switched from Sky to Freesat+ because I was only watching free channels and recording off there. Any other ones, i would download. Been with Freesat for about 2 months now and i like it. Added bonus, free recording unlike Sky's £10 a month charge if you don't want a Sky TV package. |

If you have a good freeview signal and don't wan't HD (don't have a HD TV say) it's not going to be any advantage.
In a non freeview area and/or want access to free HD content then yes it's worth it. |

Can this be a Christmas Present, open Christmas Morning, "WOW"
, take out the Sky box, connect up the Freesat+ box, and press record after setting post code + channel scan?

is the network limited to iplayer? The Iplayer will connect through your internet - via LAN cable to your router, so you will need your router close to the box or over cable. It is missing recordings, or failing a lot on mine recently its been terrible, not very reliable at all. Its a great basic entry PVR, as the other Humax range outperform this one and cheaper on the FREEVIEW. My concern is that this update due out end of this year if that contains bugs we may await another year to fix its' bugs - a Humax employee has stated it will only get so many updates before they leave this product and concentrate on future models. |

You won't be able to record 2 channels at once
. More info including details of what you can record at the same time http://www.hummy.org.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=5596 In fact under the right circumstances you can even record 2 using just 1 tuner. 108 and 951, 139 and 514 are examples |

Yes you can, you still have 2 tuners. The choice of 2nd recording channel is more restricted and the 3rd viewing option is even more restricted on 1 cable than with 2

yeah but its not practical, to have it working like a true PVR would need 2 cables into the box, if say something is on BBC 1 and you want to record something on Film 4, It wont'.
Record 300 Film4 and BBC1 from 950 BBC 1 London and you can still watch 102 104 105 106 107 125 301 600 601 968 and 974 In the case of Film 4 you can also record any other channel in this list Code:
104 Channel 4 125 More4 +1 300 Film4 301 Film4 +1 974 Channel 4 750 RTE Radio 1 751 RTE Radio 2fm 752 RTE Radio Lyric FM 753 RTE Raidio na Gaeltacta 102 BBC Two 105 Channel 5 106 BBC Three 107 BBC Four 600 CBBC 601 CBeebies 950 BBC 1 London 957 BBC 1 NI 968 BBC 2 England 102 BBC 2 705 BBC Radio 5 Live 706 BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra 960 BBC 1 Scotland 964 BBC 1 Wales 969 BBC 2 NI 970 BBC 2 SCOTLAND 971 BBC 2 W 103 ITV 1 Border England 103 ITV 1 Central East 103 ITV 1 Thames Valley 103 ITV 1 Wales 103 ITV 1 West 103 ITV 1 West Country South 118 ITV4 + 1 114 ITV2 +1 450 Men and Motors 103 ITV 1 Anglia South 103 ITV 1 Border Scotland 103 ITV 1 Meridian South 103 ITV 1 Tyne Tees North 103 ITV 1 Yorkshire West 139 Zone Horror + 1 514 Clubland 786 BFBS Radio 138 Zone Horror 811 Thane Direct 809 JML 400 Wedding TV 103 ITV HD (red button) 986 Teletext (Watch Only) 807 Shop on TV 861 Gala TV 206 Russia Today 205 France 24 690 Inspiration TV 851 Netplay TV |

On updates that's life I'm afraid boxes get superceeded, but unlike the thomson stb I had at least the humax firmware is stable, they never even got that far. |

It depends I think on your loader version on 7.51 you have to do the cable swap. On 7.52 it can update the firmware on a single cable. Bob_Cat has confirmed it's not safe to update the loader OTA.
I think it will be the new loader version as my son has only recently purchased it. Mastanlem |
