Many thanks for a very very useful link. Just spent an age perusing all the bits. One of the really intersting bits was finding out that HDMI transmits DD as I always thought it was only over optical. I'll have to read the manual again but that link is the tops.

Note motorised setup is incompatible with normal dual tuner freesat usage - some say "it's a freesat box, watch freesat on it", fact is if it's meant to do usals (spec says it is) then you should not lose dual tuner capability when enabled - it's a bug, a rather big one, that hopefully Humax will fix in an update sooner rather than later.

Dual tuner does work with a motor on the HDR. I mentioned this in http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s...365&highlight=. The same workaround worked when I recently updated the HDR FW.

you didn't reply on that first thread, on by box as soon as I switch to usals the cable setting flicks to single cable - are you saying that yours doesn't and you can record BBC one and itv at the same time with the motor configured ?

Yes, sort of. The motor acts like the single LNB solution, so you can record another channel, but the other channel is limited, as mentioned in other posts. So if for example I am recording BBC1, then I can view BBC2, Channel 5, Channel 5, BBC Three, BBC Four, ITV2+1 etc. , but not ITV, BBC HD, ITV2, ITV3, ITV3+1, etc.

Right that's single tuner operation, record one and watch one channel on the same multiplex - with a dual tuner recorder I should be able to record BBC 1 plus ITV and watch another channel on the same multiplex as BBC 1 or ITV.

For me I don't think it's a bug. Maybe I am wrong, but I think you can only ever watch another channel on the same multiplex if you only have one LNB. For proper dual tuner functionality you need two LNBs - right ?
I suspect if I had the LNB2 connector connected to a second LNB on my motorized dish, then I'd have full dual tuner capability.

Can you enlighten me as I am a little confused. You have lnb1 connected to a diseqc switch. What's connected to lnb2 in ?

I have a quad lnb on a motorised dish, unless I configure usals it happily will record bbc1 on one tuner/lnb and itv 1 on a second tuner/lnb, it will let me watch BBC 2 at the same time. As per the linked info I posted as soon as you enable usals it switches the dual cable setting to single cable - you then lose dual tuner functionality, that is the bug.
If I read your post rightly you only have a single cable connected, if that's right then you will not see the fault.

Does this mean that the stb assumes (incorrectly) that the second tuner is fed using the loop so the firmware tells the stb the second tuner can only use channels sharing the same frequency band and polarity as tuner 1. If so and the OP is only using 1 cablw it would be interesting to try putting in the link

If I understand you correctly Yes.
The connection type in "Amtenna Setting" which should say "Two cable(Same)" goes to "One cable" as soon as usals mode is enabled. So even if you have two cables attached it assumes a loop through configuration and behaves accordingly.

This gets me the channels on the same multiplex, and I do see both tuners active.
From SCs posts about the quad LNB not showing the second tuner, I can only suspect there might be a bug.
SC, did you try it in non-freesat mode, and wait a while ?
That seemed to work for me, to "trigger" the dual tuner functionality. Originally, for me the second tuner was also inactive, until I did this.
Maybe I'll have to buy a dual LNB to test it (plus extra cable, or stackers).

You should have a lot more channels than those on the same transponder as tuner 1 is using. Download this webpage and load it into your browser.

Any two channels in the same coloured block in col 4 should be recordable. If the two recording channels are in the same coloured block in cols1-3 (same transponder) then any other in the col 4 block should also be time shiftable
The bug is that according to the above postings enabling diseqc switching turns on single cable working even though there is 2
