Wow!!

According to this Tweet, Diana and 'Little Voice' received a standing ovation.

Diana Vickers.. A new West End star was born tonight! Audience rose as one and roared their approval at first preview of Little Voice

I choked up and got tears in my eyes when I read this.

I'm just so happy for her.

Can't wait to read all about her West End debut.

EDIT: Just read this on the 'Little Voice' Twitter site:-

What an AMAZING first preview! The audience gave an 8min standing ovation
8 minutes, Wow!!!

That's a good sign anyway, hope everything went ok for her.
Wish I could go and see her.
I might be able to anyway, the London trains are very fast these days aren't they?

From a member of the audience!

Hi all, I have been a member for a while now but have never posted. However, I was part of that 8 minute standing ovation tonight and am a little overwelmed. The cast were amazing but Diana was something to behold. I have never seen Diana live and I have to say I had my worries about her pulling off all the impressions. How wrong I was! She was out of this world and I cannot understand how she managed it. I am half speehless about it. Her voice was so much better than on the Xfactor. She has such a powerful voice. The ending nearly also moved me to tears and I can not say that any piece of theatre has ever done that to me. I also can't believe what a great actor she is. She really held her own against some really experienced and professional actors. All in all it was the best bit of theatre I have seen in a while and I expect her to get amazing reviews. If she doesn't they will be wrong. I have already booked to go again because I am in total awe. A talented and amazing girl!
Go Diana!

I really hope she gets some great reviews. There a lot of people out there hoping she falls flat on her face who are going to have to eat a large slice of humble pie!

Really pleased Diana did well I don't think the official reviews come out to her actual opening night rather than previews.

Diana Vickers' Little Voice is ‘amazing’, says mum

5:24pm Friday 9th October 2009

DIANA Vickers won over a full house with an “amazing” debut performance of Little Voice, her proud mum said.

Ann Vickers made the journey to the Vaudeville Theatre in London with a 12-strong party of friends and family to watch 18-year-old Diana take the lead role in Jim Cartright’s tale.

Little Voice is about a shy girl who lives in the north of England with her mother and who has a talent for impersonating some of the greatest divas, including Judy Garland, Edith Piaf and Dame Shirley Bassey.

The former Westholme student from Huncoat was picked by producers for her chemistry with co-stars Lesley Sharp and Marc Warren, who are known for Clocking Off and Hustle respectively.

Mum Ann said: “It was brilliant. I was nervous before, but we managed to see her for a few minutes before she went on stage in her dressing room which was really nice.

“She was nervous too as you’d imagine, but she really got into it when it started.

“It’s so funny in parts.

“It’s a great story line and she managed to take off the other singers like Shirley Bassey really well. She was blooming amazing.

“Her co-stars are so nice and after the show we went back stage with everyone for champagne, and the writer Jim Cartright was there too.

“It’s a small theatre, but a nice theatre and there were quite a lot of people from Blackburn who’d made the trip.

“A lot of them don’t know Diana but they’d gone down because she’s a local girl.

“I think about 150 of her friends from Westholme are going down in November, so that will be really nice.”

The Rise and Fall of Little Voice premiered in 1992 at the Royal National Theatre and was made famous by Rossendale actress Jane Horrocks in the 1998 film version.

The run at the Vaudeville lasts until January 30

I don't quite understand how Diana can sound like Shirley Bassey?

It seems that Diana is very talented and must be able to impersonate a lot of people/singers.

The whole idea was just that she was trying to impersonate them, don't know how well she did that, but the audience seemed to love her anyway.

And the producer knew she was a special girl, with a lot bigger voice that you imagine.
