While it is good, it is a bit too much "comic" for me. I prefer the Graham Norton version.

Once again (no pun!) I wonder if the publicity isn't too soon? Will people be tired of it by the time it is released 11th/12th July?”

Vernon, JLS video came out a few days ago and is released week before diana so timing is similar.
It is as much about selling the album as well as the single and the album has gone up quite a lot in the last 2 days in the itunes chart.
Also it has hardly been played or played listed on the radio yet, just a few times compared to JLS 400 or so times. It needs a few weeks to reach everyone.
I like the video including the cartoon effects.

I like the video. It's - dare I say it - quirky.

Just saw the cabaret scene from Little Voice on youtube. I'm sure all of you have seen it long ago but I was surprised by the power of her voice and versatility.

I like it a lot more than the video for once actually!

I don't think you can compare Dee to JLS. They are much further down the road and have sold over 1 million albums and can fill large arenas, so they can sell almost anything with their manic fanbase.

I don't know the figures but I doubt Dee can yet be considered a commercial success, so she needs much better marketing than she has had so far. They seem to have targeted her at the lower end of the pop market with a load of appearances on silly shows like Blue Peter, "wheelie bin" interviews etc, with ridiculous presenters making her play daft games. Whereas her mate(?) Ellie, with supposedly comparable music, has been on the Jools and Dermot shows and had her album reviewed in the Times.

There has been a surge of sales the last 2 days, but I doubt that has anything to do with the video. Almost certainly it was due to the Graham Norton Show. That is the type of show she should be on. When you look at the demographic that bought her near success on XF, and great success on LV, they are much more likely to be the type of person who listens to BBC R2, not R1 and watches BBC One, not MTV.
The festivals will bring her a lot of new fans but not nearly enough. Best would be a guest spot on the remaining BGT Results shows and although too far off, an appearance on XF, as she has hinted. Unless sales pick up, I think it is lucky she is changing labels, as RCA have shown they do not have much patience for XF acts that do not have sustained sales.

Let's hope the album sales increase with the next single.

As Dee remarked in a recent interview, she had the very best (2) vocal coaches, before and during LV. In fact the Assistant Director was one of those coaches, and worked with her throughout the Play, especially on Matinee days.
That training has, and will, stand her in good stead throughout her career.
I was one of the fans who was at LV on the first night on 8th Oct and waited with great trepidation to hear how the person with the slightly dodgy vocal cords on XF would perform.
I was happy and proud to stand for her long ovation for her great acting and, especially, singing.

Dee remarked at R1BW that she had started writing for her second album, and today tweeted that she was working with Nerina again.
Perhaps she heard what Lady Gaga said? :
Quote:
“ “I don’t understand bands who say they’ll tour for one year, then record the next,” she exclaims at one point, going Thatcher again. “I make music every DAY!””

I was only referring to JLS to show that the timing of the release of the video is fairly typical. If you preder, Esmee Denters whose record is released the same week as Diana already has her video out too.

I am sure Diana will get more prime time exposure now she has number 1 accreditation but I expect it was quite difficult to get her on these shows before Once was released. So I would expect more prime time going forward with Graham Norton as the start. I hope she goes on the Alan Carr show when it starts up in June again which was something Ellie was on. I know Ellie was on the type of shows ou mention, but she had the backing of the BBC with her nomination and winning of the BBC Sound of 2010 award.

But I also think the matt Edmondson interview in the bin and the 5.19 more tea vickers is fine too as she should show her fun side to that audience too. I watched them and enjoyed them.

Glad to see you back, Hicky! Was beginning to think DVAT was finally dead!

Now, what is this about "a girly meal with big al"? Rather mixed signals there?

And looks like we will not have to wait long for a second album?
