I love that term "universal acclaim" or "critically acclaim"
It makes me sound rather Music industry-ish whenever i say it

Lungs and both versions of Ceremonials are all in the Australian i-tunes top 10. Never knew the Ozzies were such big fans.

oooh you must indeed

Apparently her albums usually are very "filler" centric...but i always love her singles!
Really? I don't find that to be true at least of her last two records on which I love almost every song except for a few. I think that was true of her earlier records. I only really got into her with the last two records.
She has a big voice so I'm sure there's pressure for her to just do boring adult music like Celine Dion or Adele which I hate, but I like that she takes chances into more edgy rock and even dance influenced stuff.

I didn't know that, I'm quite surprised how big she is I know she's not Adele or Gaga but I always though she had quite a niche audience. But i didn't buy Lungs till quite late so I probably missed out on a lot.

Bland big voiced "diva" steroetypes do not do my cup of tea at all!

Yeah i mean Adele and gaga are mainstream "popstars" reallly nowarent they....whereas FLo is still relatively "indie" in vibe and like Bjork her music is very much niche audience....but it turns out ehr music translates into different territories than people acknowledge!

A Japanese girl requested me on FB because she said she knew i was a FLo fan bless her naww! its not like i love Ceremonials or anything haha!

But yeah and in so many ways i dont want her to be as big as those two....just to sustain herself with her audiences and develop slowly across album to album she can build quite the decade round ehr work....three years in public eye already and all that jazz

True i love the indie vibe she's got going, and I can see what you mean about about her transcending into different music territories.

My brother is a mager rap and hip - hop fan but stayed up till 12.00 to download Ceremonials on i-tunes.

Lol about the Japanese girl I'm going to have start mentioning Flo a lot more on Facebook see what happens

I'm not really surprised Florence is getting such a wide audience. She's indie and innovative but still has good melodies and relatively accessible. A friend of mine said Florence is bringing what Bjork no longer does! Bjork went too strange in recent years and lost that broader appeal. I think there are a lot of people like me who don't like totally mainstream manufactured pop music but we don't like really weird avant garde music either. In recent years, it seems like there hasn't been too much music that hits the middle ground between the two extremes so Florence sort of fills an unmet need.

That is true, i love Bjork to death but i havent bought an album by her the past decade for that reason really.

Debut, Post and Homogenic were masterpeices!! And she pushed into more unknown territories that only her most loyal go!

And yeah i love weird, like Kate Bush for example...still here and making pure emotive Power Pop, Avant garde recordings and i love her to death!!

Madonna....weird, wonderful, MAD you know....she is eccentric but her music translates to so many territories which is why she is so relevant and has achieved everything she has....Prince, again his most recent stuff (basically early 90s onwards) pales in comparison to all his 80s output...but hes still here and he was mad as a hatter but beautiful musically!

Flo brings that vibe i whole heartedly agree! And while we have mainstream popstars like Britney, Rihanna and even gaga herself bringing a type of unusual or brutal honesty into their music....it still is overlooked

But florence nails it and was so glad to have read about her and know about her since 09 really!

Let down by Florendce's set on Jools Holland
She seemd rather dull doing What the water gave me and Breaking down. I didn't see any life in her. But then she conclude with a top notch performance of No Light No Light.
