Been shopping today. I picked up Ceremonials for £7 looking forward to hearing it in full. Just had a little look over the thread and I noticed that Girl With One Eye seems to be a fan favourite. It's one of my favourites too. I've had it in my head all day.

I really don't like Girl With One Eye :/ It's the one from Lungs I could never get into.

I didn't realise until today that girl with one eye is a cover.

I felt uncomfortable hearing that coming from a man it adds a whole new layer to an already creepy subject matter *shivers*

Me too!

I think that the original is out and out evil whilst Florence's version is sinister.

Yeah hers is sort of whistfully creepy in a Tim Burton way and kind of subverts the subject matter almost making it beautiful theirs is just an odd listen.

I've been listening to Ceremonials today and it made me think...if someone asked me what type of music F+TM make, I wouldn't know what to say.

How would you describe their sound?

There isn't one specific genre in which they fit but most would call them indie but their overall sound is art rock or Baroque pop with elements of soul, dance. For me their debut was very indie with art rock elements whilst Ceremonials is Baroque pop with elements of soul.

I think thats why i love them they have their own distinctive sound yet are extremely versatile

Giving Ceremonials a spin.

The second album is incredibly difficult to get right, but I think that this is as good as (Between Two) Lungs.

I absolutely adore Seven Devils. If that doesn't scream Halloween, nothing will. Great Halloween song!

Seven Devils had been used in a trailer for the film Beautiful Creatures I love that song.

So it is to be a Florence less year but hopefully they get their deserved Grammy

And agree though on reflection and surprisngly a year down the line and Ceremonials has failed to hold up for me. It's definitely a solid album and the sound of all is just beautiful and magical and just awesome its just even from when i bought it missed something that Lungs had it may have been inconsistent but it was always surprising and unique whereas Ceremonials sticks to close to the line and inevitably leaves me a little hollow i think some songs on the standard could have been dropped in favour of the deluxe tracks i.e Landscapes, Bedroom Hymns and the album as a whole could have gone from the baroque pop sound at the beginning to the more haunting eerie songs at the end like Beyonces four but excited for album number three though it is to be a while

Also was thinking if Bird Song intro i love that piece of music (its on the original deluxe disc 2) its a shame it wasn't mad into a full song Bird song itself is great but not as good as its intro.

Florence is incredible. Love their unplugged album too. I can't believe they never won a Grammy though.

I've heard "Sweet Nothing" tons of times already but I quite liked it today. Well, I like Florence's bits...but I really don't care for the music. Anyone else had an experience like that before?

Yeah Mimi it's like Skrillex Ft Ellie Goulding Summit i don't care for the music but her vocals alone make me enjoy it always enjoyed Seet Nothing though feels like a natuaral extension after Spectrum Remix

Thought I'd bump this thread.

I've been listening to F+TM a lot lately. I've yet to hear anything that I don't like. I quite like the Unplugged version of Shake It Out.

For all of the theatrics of Florence's music I love it stripped back too.
